opinion-please read all

Since I am the original poster of the now famous Exhaust Manifold thread I thought it was about time i chimed in.I simply posted a For sale ad for a set of 1973 dated 340 exhaust manifolds nothing more than that. They were advertised as Hi-Po manifolds per the White books & because they were for a 340. They ARE different than 318 manifolds.Fishy posted that there were no different 318 manifolds & that is not true.I also did not think anyone would have mistaken them for 68-70 340 manifolds since i said they were 73 dated in the ad. I didn't have any pics at the time but have since posted some I would not have expected anyone to purchase them without asking for pics first.Plus at $200 they are priced at 1/2 the price of the earlier Manifolds. If Fishy had a problem with the description a simple PM would have been fine instead of posting & making it sound like I was trying to deceive someone.
Thank You
Sal

Sal in my opinion I did not in any way make it sound like you were trying to deceive someone. I could have said "hey them ain't HI-PO manifolds. Are you trying to crook someone? But I didn't. Also if you also notice I never once mentioned your name or handle nor the type of parts that were question nor provided a link to the for sale thread anywhere in this thread. I could have easily done all that to point a finger at you, but I didn't. My intent in this thread was just to find out how people felt on the matter of speaking up. This thread was purely generic in how I wrote it.

To be perfectly clear about my original intent concerning the ad, I was interested when I saw them listed because you listed them as "Hi-PO" manifolds and I'm looking at buying a project I need some for. Since the only Hi-Po manifolds that were made were 68-70's that's what I thought you were advertising until I clicked on the thread. When I read you said they were 73 manifolds my exact words in my original question were

"Hi-po manifolds from 73? I thought the Hi-po manifolds disappeared after 70 or 71 so all are basically the same after that. Just my thoughts and the rememberer isn't always great so I could be wrong. Pics would prove it." (I copied and pasted that from the original ad so as to get it exactly correct).

The White book may call them Hi-Po manifold but it's incorrect. I have what looks like the exact same set of manifolds out in the shed and they did in fact come off a 318 so in that time era I believe they were the same. But that's not proven, just my theory. Since you brought it up can you prove that in fact 318 manifolds are different, other than the part number#.

BTW: On a final note, your parts are in very nice condition probably worth the price your asking, but that wasn't what I questioned anyway.
