ROOSTER COGBURN IS BACK!!!! sort of....

-
Hard to believe with all the great movies he did that he only received on oscar. Loved his quote so much, I used it in my signature.

Please help me out, I believe in one movie he says something like "Yee Ha, Brazos" For the life of me I don't know which one it is, any ideas?

CORN DODGERS!! Wasn't that one of his snacks of something been a long time may have to watch that this weekend.

My thoughts on this are wait and see.

According to the wife's EW magazine article no one in the production staff associated with the new movie has seen the original, using the book as a guide.

But it's a John Wayne classic. Did they really feel the need to remake a movie which won the Duke his lone Oscar and was nominated for a Best Picture?

Well, generally I'd say I'm against "remakes", especially of movies that were about as good as they could be in their time. And I'm a huge John Wayne fan. But, this is a Coen brothers movie (Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, etc.), so you can rest easy it's not gonna be some ridiculous Tom Cruise vanity project like War of the Worlds or something. Plus, in my opinion Jeff Bridges is quickly joining the ranks of guys like Morgan Freeman and Tom Hanks as one of the best actors working today.

It'll probably be good. That bein said, I'm against remakes for one reason only. Because Hollywierd is just too damned lazy to come up with original stories so they just remake stuff. I mean.....The Wolfman was the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my life. I am a huge old horror movie fan. I have the WHOLE monster movie box set with all of them from the 30s and 40s with ALL the sequels. NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY could do a monster like Lon Chaney, Jr. He played ALL the original monsters except the invisible man. That hollywood crowd is just lazy as hell and we just keep buyin their bullcrap.

My old man has ALWAYS been a huge fan of the duke and he also liked to "squint with clint" as he called it lol.

I remember as a kid all he ever wanted to do was watch westerns and I thought they were so boring and I just wanted to watch cartoons.

It wasnt until I grew up that I seen how awesome westerns really were, now if i catch a good one on tv I find my self kicking back and watching it while I listen to my little one bugging me to watch cartoons HAHAHA funny how that works.

My old man is going to get a kick out of the new movie coming out but I am sure he will be critical with it since it just won't be the same as the original .... But I am sure it will still be am ust see for us

RIP my Duke mug.

It was broken when my brother-in-law fell on it....with his head. Yeah we were waisted.

We just got back from seeing True Grit....******* AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Other than one scene in the middle and the very very end it was just like the original movie! Even the guy that played Robert Duvalls character looked like he did in the original.

This is really surprising given that the John Wayne movie was very loosely based on the book and the new movie is strictly based on the book.

I listened to a radio interview that said the new movie was substantially different.

Guess I need to go see for myself.

The last time I seen a movie outside of my house was at a drive in, I can't wait for it to come out on DVD, It is a must see that has been on my list, Good to hear it is Friggen awesome JR.

All the online critics are givin it good marks. Even dude on FoxNews.com and he routinely rips um all a new asshole. I'm glad they did a good job cause somebody wouldda had to fly to Hollywood and kick Jeff Bridge's old ***.

I would like to see more movies done old school ....not enough westerns now a days

I watched the original and the remake last night, actually like the new version better.

Jeff Bridges did a good job but I didn't get the "**** yeahs" like when watching the original when he said the line "Fill your hands you son of a *****!". When The Duke says it it is more exciting.

surprised by the positive responses on here, have to admit the trailers look good, I almost always hate remakes and dont go to see movies much, (most are garbage) but if it is half as good as you say I think I will have to make an exception

I saw the trailers for this and it looks pretty good but I'll wait till it comes out on DVD. I saw the original at the movie theatre when I was just a little kid. I never forgot the pit of rattlesnakes scene.

Going to see the Movie in a few hours.I never really liked the Duke much I am a big Eastwood fan...
