ABodyBetty's new baby comes home!!!

Body work is as boring to do as it is to photograph!! LOL!

I'll just try to take pics every so often today, try to keep up, OK?!!

Here we go!:happy10:

I find doing bodywork and (especially) paint to be a very effective "bucket of cold water" poured over my natural inclination to perfectionism. I just don't have the skills (or disipline) to do as nice a job as I want to, so I end up with paint runs covering glops of bondo by the time I'm done, even if I start with the best intentions. Of course, it'd help to have a worthwhile subject and "smooth canvas" such as Fern. The amount of time and effort you've put into just her front driver fender would defeat my patience, for sure.

So, for what it's worth, I've found your determination and workmanship (on Fern, and also FOTO) to be an inspiration- keep it up.

Hey FABO
What's Ahhhhhhhhhup?

Sorry, It's been too long again.
I've been busy on 3 junkers too good for the junk yard, 88 Honda Civic, 1996 Ford Taurus, and a 97 Saturn.
hauled them in as Junk in Aug. but they were too nice to junk, plus I make more$ by fixing and reselling.
There is a National Muzzel Loaders Shoot here locally, it starts Sat and runs for a week. We get crazy traffic flow on RT 50 from Cinti OH that whole week and both weekends. Been trying to get them ready to put up on the highway for sale. ABB has been driving the Taurus and there has been talk of putting the 69 Clara up for sale too but it's the only one I have of that body style and not sure I want her to go. I LIKE THAT CAR!
Anyway, I'm getting so close to paint I can't hardly wait anymore!! This is when I usually start rushing to see what the new paint will look like. This is also usually when you should take your time and be patient. I'm always sorry when my rushing bad body work shows up in final paint. My paint quality is usually so high that it shows every little fault in the rushed body work!
Vinnie and Lex aren't really much help either!

So as you guys can see, I got my plate pretty full, but will still try to get Fern done by month's end. It will be her 1 year anniversary here with us and would like to undercoat before snow!!8)

Without futher delay, here's the pics....:-D

Few more pics.
Will try to finish final skim today.
Check the body lines that are comming out!8)

Everyone have a great day today FABO!

What did I just read......ABB is driving a Taurus?? :-({|=

Just kiddin' w/ ya John. Good to see you posting updates and saving a few from the crusher, even if they are brand X. Keep up the good work!!

LOL!!:toothy10:
The brand "X" ones are the ones I usually double my money on.
When I flip a Dart I lose over half invested on resale!

ABB will be losing the Taurus Sat night, I've got a buyer lined up for that and the Honda just sold. It was on CL for about an hour. Could have sold a dozen of those, they are still calling on that one!!
I'll put new points etc in her 69 and she'll be back to that till I get this Saturn running!8)
As soon as Fern is done, she'll move into her for winter!:clock:

Glad to see your back around, John. nothingbutdarts (Kim) started a thread in the general section asking where you've been. Hopefully he'll see this and know you've been busy.

I dropped in there to say hi and left them a link to this thread. When I do have time to post now it's always on this thread!8)

Body filler, where does it all go?

1/2 gallon of kitty hair and 3/4 of a gallon of feather lite.
More like 1/8 or 1/4 gallon of each actually stayed on car. The rest is washed off the car and driveway!!
When am I going to learn less is more especially on the final skim coats. If ya put less on theres less to sand back off!! LOL!!:toothy10:

Anyway, getting closer to final paint. After all the main areas are done I will have to go back and finish the door sill on back pass side where we put all those patches on the pass rear door sill. Still have to body seam all the floor patches.

Well better get to it!

what happened to foto's trany? I thought you just had it serviced.

I did! Tell me about it! All my luck is still holding good!!:angry7:

I'm thinking flex plate (Ford doesn't make anymore and is impossible to find a new one)
or it could be torq converter.
It's making a metalic sounding rubbing noise from that area under load starting out from a stop. Once up to speed OK loaded or not. Noise is worse when loaded.
I'm still going out with it this AM to haul a honda civic. Can't really afford to pay Yard dawg to haul for me, but can't tell customers no for 3 or 4 weeks either. I told the tranny shop he had me down untill at least looked at but would not even ride in it till drop off this comming Monday. I take all my cars into him too! I would have thought he would at least listen to it. He said he may not get to it Monday either! Jezz, I didn't realize how much I need that truck till now!
I'm going to haul this morning, wish me luck. If she goes it'll get towed to the tranny shop with a honda on the back!!8)

good luck, I hope he fixes it for you, as you are a repeat costumer.

MDM,
I hope so too. I had to have Yard Dawg haul another of my missed loads yesterday. Believe it or not it was another 1975 F-100 light blue in color. (2nd one in 3 days!!) I've lost $475.00 profitt in the last 3 days!!:angry7:
We stopped in due to FOTO being parked in a different spot. The nice guy who works there (Not the stressed out owner) said he drove it and was pretty sure it was the torq converter going out. Went buy this morning and it was still outside. I hope it makes the lift today.

Hey FABO!,

Here's another update!
Didn't get much done but what was done looks great so far!
Here's a quick six pack-O-pics for ya!8)

Hopefully we'll get more done today. Maybe not. Going up to get the 81 Ferd Fairmont Futura Sport this AM. Hope it makes it all the way home!8)

Still at the original hole I found in Fern. We are putting on layer of kitty hair. Sand. Then we will skim with thin layer of feater lite.
Lets see how it turns out!:clock:

Didn't get much more done today.

FOTO still sitting outside the tranny shop office like it is a lot ornament.
In the same time today I missed out hauling my 4th car in so many days. Of course it only happens like that with the truck down.
Proffits missed in 4 days; $575.00- 75 fuel = $500
Cars missed
past Friday; 1975 F-100 V-8 with aluminum cap. Light blue in color.
past Sat; 81 Honda Civic
Yesterday; (NO BS!) 1975 F-100 V-8, no cap, Light blue in color!!!!:toothy10:
Today; 92 Crown Vic
Oh well. The more I visit the tranny shop, the more it'll cost! (I'll drop a dozen doughnuts there in the AM. That will at least get everybody elses cars done sooner!! LOL!!!

Sold the Taurus this morning so have the money now for tranny repairs!

Anyway, Here's 16 pics showing the rear sill, pass side. bad place to to body work!!

Have a safe one FABO!!8)

Keep plugging away and Fern will be done in no time. I just wish I could get to work on my body more. Looking great.
