Howdy,
I'm Hugh from Santa Cruz.

I'm here mostly to learn about Mopar Small Blocks, because I have a '38 Chrysler that is longing for a new motor.

When I got the Chrysler 5 years ago it had a tired SBC in it, so I put another in its place because it was cheap & easy, and I just wanted to get it on the road.

We all know that cheap & easy can sometimes lead us down the wrong path, and now I'm ready to re-Mopar the Chrysler.

My other hobby car is also a Mopar, but also not an A-body: It is a 50 Plymouth wagon with the flat 6 done up with 50's speed equipment.

I'm going by 4woody here 'cause that is my handle over on the HAMB, so if I know any of you from over there please speak up.

Looking forward to learning a lot here!

What a cool car, glad to hear your brining it back from the dark side. I'll be looking forward to seeing the transplant, that is if your going to do a thread on it. Oh and welcome to FABO!

welcome! you will find the people here very helpfull, unlike the hamb. where they just want to put you down.

wow cool car!
what are you thinking for it?
modern fuel injected HEMI,
the venerable 340
or the ever popular 360

I'm leaning toward a 360 'cause it is a big, heavy car: ~4000lbs loaded, so torque is my friend. It'll just be street driven, and I'm a pretty mellow fellow, so all about your race builds are interesting to read about, but not really the direction I'm headed.

To some extent it'll also depend if a suitable built engine comes my way. A couple months ago there was a rebuilt 340 on the local Craigslist for several weeks at a real reasonable price, but I hadn't decided yet that I was really going to to the swap. I snoozed & it was gone.

I did get a great deal on a never installed TCI-built 727, so at least that part is decided.

Way OT, but I'm proud. Here is the engine in the '50:

Howdy neighbor!

I'm over in Live Oak, around 17th Ave. That's a beautiful automobile you have there. Glad you're going to get her Mo-power'ed again
Feel free to hit me up here at FABO if you need a hand...

Shishaldin- I'm over by Pleasure Point/Capitola.
We should have a beer/cup'o'coffee sometime.

Any more pics of these gorgeous machines? Welcome to FABO!! Glad to see something different always here

Nice job on the flathead. Smart choice to go with a Mopar power plant in the 38. Makes it more of a classic.

Hi and welcome to FABO from Sweden.
That is a sweet -38 you got there.
Do you got any more pics to share with us?

When you said '38 Chrysler I sure didn't expect a convertible. Love it!
