Just thought I'd post a quick update. Amy & me had no summer this year. We spent every free minute working on the house. We've owned it for 6 yrs. and had held onto it as an investment. Being the housing market sucks, we decided to move out of our small Co-Op apartment and into the house. The house was empty for years and was recently rented to as friend whom was getting divorced. Needless to say, it was a shithole. And boy, did it need work, it hasn't been updated since the `70's. . But there was a hitch: I had my car out for an Easter parade, and that's it.... She sits in the garage with a dead battery (again...) as I type this. I promised my Wife I'd work on the house before I played with the car. After all, she let me have over a year to assemble it after it was painted, and I owed it to us to fix up the house now.

As far as it being "finished", it's ready to move into. I still have to replace the front door, build the deck, and put up a fence, but it's done inside. All that 1970's vibe is gone thank goodness..... :angry7:

Imagine covering that floor with carpet?

After is was polyurathaned it looked like glass. It's dulled a bit as it gassed-out.

Fast coat of paint and I can live with the paneling until I can afford to rip everything down to the studs. I have badly F`ed up plaster walls behind all that cheesy paneling. It all has to come out and get sheet rocked. Not now.

Adding the patio door was a good move. The amount of light that comes in now is awesome! But now I have a deck to build.

Yes, we have a pink bedroom. Leanna was busting my chops about it, but know what? My Wife not ONCE made a suggestion on detailing my car. The house is all her call. She wanted a pink bedroom, we have a pink bedroom. I'm cool with it.... 8)

This weekend we start carrying our stuff in and we'll officially be living in Queens Village as of this week. We should have our cable turned on by Tuesday so I'll be back. Our Co-Op in Bayside will get a quick fluff and it goes up for sale. Let's pray I'm not stuck with the 2 places for too long.....

Now, about that dirty, dead Barracuda in the garage.... maybe I can still catch a few nights out before we put away the toys for the winter.
:angry7:

Good to hear from you John, Hope you and the wife enjoy the new place. We'll have to get together again this winter for dinner and a bs session.

HOLY ****! Adam !?!?!?! I thought you were abducted by Aliens.....

Thanks, the house is coming along nicely. It's going to be great having room again. Now we can BBQ and invite our friends over more than 1 couple at a time!

And I think next week we start shopping for a new Puppy. The house has been too empty after we lost our old Gal last May. We're thinking possibly a pair so they have company. Mixed breed Shepard is our intentions. But we know the dogs will find us. :grommit:

Stay well and send our regards to Michelle & the kids. We must get together again.

House looks really good John! And your fish looks amazing, hope you can make it to Carlisle next year would love to see it in person!

You sure have been a busy man John, I remember the big door you and some friends put up. I hope all goes well and you get a couple days with your Barracuda
Where is the music room at ?

That's the best part. I can play my Bass in ANY ROOM I WANT without annoying anyone. Even on the back deck, once that materializes....

I plan on using small bedroom as a TV/music/reading room with a small practice amp. It's so damn small I was thinking of knocking down the bedroom wall and making it a closet.

Your doing what ya have to do with those houses and expose those beautiful wood floors and trim. What a difference,nice!!8)

Love what you have done to the house John and Amy.

Those floors look great......yes I agree.....why would anyone cover that up.

Looks like light at the end of the tunnel.

Looks great John. I hear you on the renos. I promised my wife that our kitchen/living area would be ready for Thanksgiving, so my new shop/garage is just a slab of concrete until next year lol.

It wasn't a chop-busting, just an innocent one-word question. :-D

The house looks absolutely amazing! You two should be proud of all the hard work you've done so far. Take the weekend off and suck down a few -- you both deserve it.

Or you could go here and they have transportation ready to go.

They need you.....

I know they need us.... and it's going to happen. Some of the Shepards listed are beautiful. I wish we could adopt them all! We haven't decided on 1 or 2 yet, but like I said, we'll know when the dog(s) find us.

I miss our Gal Angel so much..... I swear I can still hear her nails clicking on the wood floors at times.

Thanks for the links Joe. We're having fun browsing the available dogs over coffee right now.

Looking great John!!!! If it ends up half as nice as the fish your wife will definately let you play with the toys before winter.

Good to see your still stopping by to visit! The house has been a grueling project because we're indoors during one of the hottest summer's on record. We have A/C on the ground floor, but the unit is old and dying.... it's on out Labor Day Sale shopping list, along with a gas grill. 8)

<sigh...> It's coming along slowly. And we thought we'd be moved in before July 4th!

Good to see you back John! The house is looking great. Best of luck to you and Amy.
Mary says Hi Too. Big hug to Amy....ok, one for you too.
Peace.

I kind of here ya John,I had no winter last year.I spent all my time on the Dart, but this winter I plan on working on the house and doing some ice fishing.PS the house looks great. Also weres the pic of the patio door with deck?

You certainly have been away for sometime, but i can see it hasn't been a lost cause. Good on ya with the PINK bedroom. Been there, done that. When we built our house the wife and i had an agreement. She wanted this and that in the master bath so we agreed that she could design the MB and i got to design the kitchen. What a great deal. She's happy and so am i. I'm the cook. By the way John, a good wife is worth taking care of. Didn't i see a pic of your car in MM? I think i did. Beautiful floors and the old trim in the house is timeless. Nice job. If i were close i'd be on that deck with ya. A day would knock it out.

Wow Great work! Now next summer you have to make up for neglecting your cuda since it looks you wont have much more to do around the house.

I guess I'm supposed to say something like you had it easy or something? sledge hammer easily removed all of the walls from my doublewide and boy is it an open floor plan now  Looks good John !!!

Looks like a summer well spent and will pay you back for years to come. Good luck on your puppy search. Congrats to the both of you. Party Party Party isn't that what they said on Animal House.

Wow! Definitely party time so you can show the place off. I can see now why your barracuda looks so good. You have mad skills. Nice job.DD
