A few months ago I filled up with gas and when I was leaving the station I punched it. When it hit second the car died and I heard a grinding noise. Went to restart it and when if fired up I heard grinding, so I shut it off. It turned out I tore the neck off the torque converter and that was the noise. I'm not saying this is your problem......but could be. MMG
