The Scamp needs a new dual exhaust system so I got a couple of quotes and am wondering if they are reasonable based on what others north of the 49th have paid.

It's a near stock 318 with stock manifolds and duals (1 7/8" dual set-up now) with no cross pipe now. I'm thinking of going with a 2.25" set-up

I got a quote from Shop A for a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust for $850 installed (new from the bottom of the manifold back with H pipe). The place doesn't mandrel bend 2.25" pipe.

The second place doesn't mandrel bend exhausts but gave me a quote of ~$550 for a 2.25" exhaust from the bottom of the manifold back with H pipe.

I'd supply either shop with the mufflers and exhaust tips for install.

have you looked into what it would cost to have a pypes kit from summit or jegs sent up? i dont know exactly where you are but since this seems to be in the canadian region i will say i know what it costs to have things sent from the US. I am just NW of toronto. 850 seems steep to me, I wouldnt pay that.

There's a company in Canada that sells a good fitting 2 1/2 in mandrel bent system if you can install it yourself. Pipes, clamps and hangers are around 400 for manifold back.

www.mufflertech.com sells a good kit for $299 minus the head pipes. they in in PoCo.

The Shop A quote is Muffler Tech which I think is also the place JayD is referring to.

$435 for the exhaust kit from the headers to rear bumper (w/o mufflers) plus $150 from the manifolds to where the kit starts along with $280 for labor/install.

Watchout for Muffler Tech. Have heard alot of horror stories(my .02) I have used Hoaglers in Richmond B.C. with very good results, but not cheap. They do not do mandrell bent.I have also heard that Muffler Tech charges for mandrell bent, then you look & it's clearly not mandrell. For a mostly stock 318 2 1/4" non-mandrell should be fine.

you could get a 2 1/2" mandrel bent setup with x crossover (manafolds back) from tti and it includes mufflers for $650. then you could install it yourself.....

Systems Include . . .

• Exhaust pipes to manifolds • X-pipe assembly • Tailpipes with welded hangers
• Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers • Muffler Hangers • Tailpipes hanger receptacles
• Clamps and mounting hardware

I went with the 2.5 inch TTIs but they are pricey with the exchange and shipping expect a grand , there used to be a shop off of Kingsway near Downtown that would bend up a custom set pretty reasonable I paid 800 for a complete dual setup from the manifolds back including mufflers installed and welded up for a bowtie , but that was 20 years ago when I lived in Van so they might be gone now

Yes I know all to well who and what Peter Willie is , I take it you work for him? anyway this guy was looking for something a lot less expensive than the $1200-$1500cdn Peter is going to charge him to supply and install a complete exhaust from the manifolds back , plus mufflers and a trip to the Island to get it done your way out of this guy's ballpark

i dont work for Peter. just some options.

time to learn to do it yourself I suppose if it's too expensive.

way steep lucky my friend knows how to weld so i basicly paid nothing

yeah I forgot to add the welds to those prices but the nice thing about the kits he was looking at - you can hang it yourself with the clamps then find someone to weld it up later - which reminds me I need to get my tti's welded they are leaking at almost every clamp now thanks ..... ..... !

I don't know if this is the proper place to put this but...
I still have my exaust bender/swager fom my previous life as a shop owner.
Any club member who wants to P.M. me I'm sure I can make you a "deal you can't refuse".I'm located in Northern Kentucky(Cincinatti area)
Just trying to help,
Chuck

Yeah I'm not looking for $1500 exhaust system... it's not like I've got a crate motor pushing out 400+hp and need to have a gold plated exhaust to match the engine.

Just a decent exhaust that isn't 'cheap' but also isn't 'overkill'

I had complete 2.5" dual exhaust put on from manifolds back to tips, including Dynomax mufflers for right near $500.00 Canadian. Speedy Auto in Nanaimo, did a great job, and guaranteed their work. I couldn't beat that price on the mainland...but the cost of 2 ferries, might put it out of reach?

I know this is an old thread, but, Moopa, is that shop still there? Do you think they's still do a system for that price? I just got a quote down here in Vic for $950+Hst for a manifold back system for my Dart. Looking for a cheaper alternative.

Thanks.

Hi Darwin... they are still in business 250-755-1808 .I think they'd need to see the car, but I'm sure they'd still be very reasonable, I've sent alot of business their way, and we take some of our company trucks there. Ask for Tessa,Tell her "Mark from Southern Railway" sent me for as good of a deal he was given on the green Charger!!"
I hope that helps, they are open Saturdays, too.

Thanks Mark. I'll give them a call.

I'm not going with tips...just turndowns at the end of the tailpipes.

Summit offers complete systems from headers back for $209 for 67-74 A bodies. I looked at the picture of the kit and all you would have to do is get headpipes from the manifold to the pipe where the header connects(would have to cut off the flare for the collector). The local exhaust guy said that I could install the summit system leaving the clamps loose wire the mufflers in place, and he would make the headpipes, install them, and finish the install for 200 bucks. Including the shipping, the system, the headpipes, and the labor 450 bucks. I'm sure you can find someone in your area that would do a similar deal.
