System from summit ? Seems not many others , like BorlA or Magnaflow list complete SS systems for a 70 dart . The cheerry bomb type "mufflers " I have now are a bit too loud .
Any other suggestions for SS system ?

A frien had the pypes system on his 69 Superbee.Pretty loud...

Does he have the no muffler setup or the setup with mufflers ? Big block or small ? I know even with hemi mufflers my 440 was loud , it needed 4 mufflers or 2 with resonators to be quiet .
Thanks , sure don't want cherry bomb loud , don't mind loud when I hit the pedal but idling and putting around town quiet would be better

Hmmm, yup has mufflers and a healthy 383 that puts it in the mid 12's.

I purchased the Pypes setup for My 72 Dart .With a mild 318 I did not find it too loud at idle or on the highway only at full throttle. However as I was disassembling the car for the build I took off the tubes that go all the way back to the rear and Wow what a difference it got really loud in a hurry ! I think I'll be running the full length exhaust when the 360 goes in ! Also at the time they had two options the standard and the violator You can guess which one is louder.

Violator , that's a pretty good hint they will be loud , is the x-pipe setup they use to a H crossover , any advantage to the X over the H crossover setup or are they just about the same ?

Here's a stock 318 with the 2.5" X-pipe system and Race Pro mufflers.

I also did this in-car ride-along of tearing around the foothills. Note: It is 5+ minutes that you can never get back.

I have a Pypes 2.5" x-pipe system with no mufflers on my big block '69 Bee. It's only loud if you put the pedal down. If you're just cruising, it's quiet enough that you don't have to yell to have a conversation. The only trouble I had with the install was getting pipe bent to clear the crossmember. It took a few hours to get that just right.

From a purely non-technical stanpoint I would think an X-pipe would have far better flow characteristics than a simple H-pipe.Just imagine the exhaust gases trying to make that sharp turn(actually two sharp turns)then visualize how the gases would flow through the X so each pulse is actually traveling down both right and left exhaust tubes after the X it's almost like having a 5" exhaust.(In theory).:-D

Thanks guys , Doktor x that is just about how loud mine is now , need it a bit quieter than that . Wishforhemi , that is unreal , I had stock hemi muffllers with my 440 and it was loud ! Straight pipes, wow amazing it's not loud . I got pulled over a few times , but proved I had a full exhaust with mufflers so no problem .
Maybe what I want is impossible , quiet around town , but a good sound when i hit the pedal .
Maybe the pype x system with no mufflers and I;ll add a set of mufflers from some other manufacturer

This would be correct.

The gases do not make turns in a H pipe system. The idea is pressure balanceing, not gas flow at the H pipe. While gas's is pulseing back and forth in the H pipe, it isn't the flow there after in this design, just a pressure balance.
Also, the 5 inch exhaust is not exaclty on target ethier.

ill duster yap it will fit 1974 duster

I have the summit 3'' race exhaust and muffler way to loud

will buy dynomax muffler next summer hope will be quietter

I've got a Pypes system (without the tails installed) with Race Pro muffs. Sounds healthy at idle and nasty when you really get on it. I adapted it to Schumacher headers: http://70duster440.com/exhaust.html
