I went with the 3/8" line, and now the ground strap don't fit. Also its 2" to short. Is there a way to make my own?
Will my gas gauge not work for sure without one??

Also, My fuel filler does not want to go in! I know it's suppose to be tight, but Geez!!

Can I start the car without the fuel filler in the car, or would that be bad?

I also noticed I forgot the mat that goes on top of the gas tank! Eek! Does that matter?

That fuel filler neck is a 2 man job to install. Be sure to put some dielectric grease on it or something of that nature so it won't eat the rubber up. What a pain in the a@@.

If I am not mistaken, the mat between the tank and the car is there to basically to protect both the tank and the underside of the car, as well as prevent any unwanted noise from the tank and the car rubbing together.. i used roofing felt as the mat in my Dart... I dont know for sure if its a bad thing to not have it in there, but its something I would put there

You could make a ground strap with a piece of wire and a couple of small screw-type hose clamps. The body of the sender needs some kind of good ground for the gauge to work.

Lube the tube up with petroleum jelly (which won't hurt rubber) and twist it back and forth to work it in.

You could start the car without the tube in place but don't drive it like that. It's just not safe to have fuel exposed in that manner. The longer it's open, the better chance some crap will get into the tank too.

I did this method and it worked fine.

i dont have a mat in mine either but plan to put one in when i have the car painted

I forgot the mat - no problems / noise at all

I also made my own ground strap - soldered a wire to 2 hose clamps - works as good as it did before!!
