My 1979 Brazilian Dodge Dart is now going home !!!!

I was once told by someone who lived in Brazil that the original dies for the sheetmetal stampings on the last Darts was rotting in a field outside the Chrysler factory there, do you know anything about it? Cool car and story for sure, I have been following the Brazillian Darts for years now and they are quite rare to find!

Rhino

Rhino,

Unfortunately you're absolutely right...The original dies, stamps, and all sheetmetal that was used for Chrysler of Brazil were scrapped after Volkswagenwerk decided to take the brand off the market. I believe this happened some years after the line was finished and dismantled, back in early 1981. Today all Dodges are very rare here and we strongly believe that less than 10 percent of them survived from the long misuse & damage done through the eighties & nineties...
And believe it or not, les than a hundred thousand cars were made by Chrysler here for twelve years of production, from 1969 till 1981...
We have a big friend and great Dodge enthusiast called Alexandre Badolato, and this guy found the LAST A-BODY DODGE DART PRODUCED IN THE WORLD !!!
It was a 1981 Onyx Black Dart Coupé serial number 93008, made somehow to be sold to the government but never came close to that since it was very used & abused by some crippled crazy guys that takes it to burnout shows in the middle of Brazil...It was completely underrated and almost destroyed, but Alexandre found it by accident during his thorough research on Brazil's central traffic department, trying to see where this Dart could be...Luckily enough to get it back and restore it from head to toe, now he proudly show this gem to our major classic car meetings.
Here in this link you may find his story:

He made a closed place to store more than 40 cars that spans all Dodge Dart heritage & history, from 1969 through this car, including all versions available, and soon we hope to have this "A-Body Paradise" open for public...

Here's the Dart when it was found, the guy who's staring in front is Alexandre, the proud owner:

Here are some shots of the heroic 1981 Black Dart after restoration and in a ride through a big meeting that happened about two years ago:

Hope to finally meet this Dart & so many other Mopar rarities at the end of this year when I'll go to São Paulo to visit some good fellas !!!
