I need a gas cap for a 71 duster.No chrome please. Was at the gas station left it on trunk lid and drove off, Dumb AS#$%% thing to do.

AJ71DUSTER,I think the 70's trucks are the same,you might find the same colour.You can try Aspens and Miradas Cordobas.
 
Thanks for the suggestions i will start going to the junks yards around here, I'm affraid that most of the yards don't have much of anything left from the 70's.

It is most likely a '71 only cap. My '71 Duster had the incorrect cap on it when I got it and was loose. I found out '71 a-bodies have a different filler neck than the other cars. I couldn't find a cap to fit so I put a '70 filler neck in the car.

'70's Dodge trucks are the same except they won't fit the '71. Been there tried that.

'71 only caps fetch big $ on ebay.

Next time you put gas in it, lay the cap down upside down on the bottom of the rear window. When you take off with out putting the cap on , it will go with you. The 1st time you go around a left hand corner, it will slide over to the other side and you will hear and see it.

Don't ask how I hit upon this info.

I have a painted gas cap for an Abody not sure what years its off.$20.00 shipped let me know. Jim

When I worked at the C/P dealer, I had a customer's Duster out for a road test and I had to put some gas in it.
It was in the middle of a snow storm and the only place I could put it was on the back window. When I made a left turn onto the street, I heard this terrible scraping noise. It was the cap slidding across the ice on the window.
I learned my lesson.
 
I did go to auto zone just for Shi@# and giggles and ask for a gas cap for a 71 duster and it came up N/A but then he ask if it was a valiant well i know that they use to be call plymouth duster Valiant, well he had and it fits real good BUT it's chrome, chome looks good on bumpers but not on gas caps,I guess that it will work for now so i can drive my car BUT here is the 100$ question what filler neck do i have need less to say i still need a gas cap!!!!
 
try NAPA when I left my gas cap in another state the NAPA in iowa had like 20 caps and 3 diffrent ones, when I returned to the state I left my cap in 4 days later it was still at the gas station so now I have one painted the color of my car and one black
 
thanks I will go to Napa tomorrow,I also went back to the gas station twice, but no luck I go there so much (Shell) that they know me as the guy with the banana car, no lemon twist yellow I say,but hell they all drive chevys.
