Pulling her out of the barn...

-
Ahh, you guys, you make me nostalgic for my mom's '66 Charger and our '72 Challenger convertible. I'm now driving a '63 Dart.

Pictures! These are just of her sitting in the barn covered in dust. Talked to dad and he said he had started her up from time to time. Last time he tried a year or so ago she did not fire.

Here she is as she sits now, 48,800 miles on the odometer. Click the link in the pink...

Wow, The interior of that Duster iss sweet for as long as it's been sitting. Give that puppy a bath and post some more pics!!!

I can't believe it was that long ago that I was looking at getting this out of the barn. My son is begging me to get it out of the barn. He turns 16 in June and so we aired up the tires yesterday and went and got a new battery today.

I have a new coil to try as well, seems to not be getting a spark at the moment. Will take the next couple weeks to work on getting her started and out of the barn and cleaned up.

I found four 14" Mopar Rally's in the barn that came off my 74 Rallye Challenger. Hope they have the same lug pattern as I remember Chrysler having a small and large pattern. They were also on my brothers 76 duster so I am hoping they fit this one. They are still in pretty good shape with a bit of rust here and there.

Everything seems to work, lights, fan radio. She cranks but won't fire. I was using a wasted battery so crank was not very strong. I will try this new battery and coil and see where that takes me.

Sorry it took so long but lots of other things going on. I feel she will be seeing daylight this spring though!

These tail lights were 1972 only correct? Still not sure what color it is. Not butterscotch but maybe Honeydew from 1972? For now just wondering but I will check the vin and title to figure all that out.

A few more of her as she sits. I believe I mentioned early on I will need to get a new tail light panel as this one has been repaired previously due to rust I believe. That and the rear lower quarters are about all that is rusted I believe.

Not much rust in the quarters, just the lower edge mainly in front of and behind the wheels. Everything but the interior and trunk is filthy.

Welcome from North Carolina and thanks for the videos. Great story and love those dusters. From what I can see, that old girl looks solid.

Here is a picture of the 74 I sold last year. It was Y4 Golden Fawn and interior looked similar to yours. Your exterior appears to be lighter in color?

Sweet Duster!!!'hope she starts up good for you. Those rally rims will not fit if they were on an e-body, they have the 5 on 4 1/2" pattern, your Duster has the smaller 5 on 4" pattern.

Do you have the parts cars yet? Might no somebody here who could be interested in the side trim from that 68 Coronet wagon.

Thanks, we will see how it goes. The Rally wheels were on my 74 E Body but my brother also used them on his 76 Plymouth Duster. So, not sure of the lug size yet but they did fit that A body too.We do have the 68 wagon still sitting out by the barn. I'll check the side trim condition.

That was a nice looking Duster. That one you had did look a bit darker. Thanks for the info and hopefully we will soon see what she looks like clean and in the sun.

73-up a-body cars had the bigger bolt pattern, changed after 1972. Cool, let me now on the trim, might be interested in other wagon parts too, thanks!

Ah, okay. Bummer. It has been a loooong while since I have messed with Mopar automobiles. Rusty on the details and not sure I ever knew the specifics on the A bodies with that switch. Thanks for that info.

"what are the odds ....i am working on a 68 coronet wagon....if you still have that and want to part it ...i need tail lights and other odds and ends."

I am heading out to work on the Duster now. I will look at the wagon and talk to dad about the parts.
