Does anyone have any experiance with the stock iron AVS 340 intakes ? Im thinking of using one on my 340 for the stock look. My goal for the car is a nice streetable low 12 second car. Its an 11:1 stock stroke 340, Cam will most likely be a solid in the 240 intake 250 exhaust range.

I was planning on just using a Perf. RPM but thought the stock intake would be different.

hi, that manifold will work very well. in the world of stock eliminator, the stock intake has to be used. Mark dickersons, 1970 340 duster runs 10.77 @ 122 mph. this is with the stock AVS carb and stock intake .

On my 68 Dart 340 ,I ran an Edelbrock LD-340 manifold painted to match the block, and ran in the upper 12`s. It was hard to tell it wasn`t the stock manifold unless you looked closely.

On my 68 340 I had the stock intake and that was better then an aftermarket intake. Then I bought a Weiand hi-rise with dual Holleys and that was better...........

And stock or less lift on the cam.

The stock intake, no matter what/who ran what in what class can be replaced for more power. The intake is a good peice, even more so when you take into account of it's age.
I would replace it with a RPM. (Air gap or not.)

and the regular non airgap RPM airgap could bee misstaken for a stock manifold if you have some patience and time to grind of all the lettering and paint it engine color, i am sure it wont fool everyone but it could fool alot of people that dont look real hard at it or dont know what to look for ;)

haha thats a good idea

hi, the fact remains, if the stock manifold didn't flow good, the MPH would be slow!!!!! from seeing your car run, that 340 stocker will out run your 14to 1 tunnel ram, roller cam car!! back in the early days of S/S racing, the AVS manifold was way faster over after market manifolds of the time!!! finally ,the manifold people built manifolds for the 340/360 that worked better!! valve lift doesn't come into play.

I assume you mean my car, and I agree that there is nothing wrong with using the stock intake. My point was that even with low lift you can have a fast car.

As for comparing my car sure there are cars that are faster with less and and there are some slower with more. Bottom line is I am happy with my ride and that's what's really important. I could care less what you or anyone else thinks of my car so go ahead and think away.
