My 70 Duster build

here is the plan, i have this truck its an 82 Toyota show truck. built by the Legendary Dick Dean and his son Keith. this truck was very fast. at that time my duster ran 13.8's and i got smoked, like two cars per gear it was shameful. this truck was approx 2800 lbs. the trans grenaded so this truck has been sitting for a good 16 years. sadly the rodents and weather really wasted the truck. two years ago i started to clean up this truck with the hope to make it run again and street worthy. i bought a house that only has a 3 car garage and a small plot of land. i had to take the truck back to my bros. to let it sit till i have time and space for it. i want to restore it to the best of my abilities when the time comes. with that said. i am tired of the shake rattle and thirstiness of a V8. the idea of putting 70 bux into the tank and being on E after a weekend is not a wise thing for my lifestyle. i have my single income with 5 kids, wife and Granny in the house. this engine and trans will cost me next to nothing. so yes 2JZ is a wonderful idea. even a 7MGTE makes more power than a 5M. like i said before. i am not interested in a race car. been there done that. once the 5M is running good in the duster. later down road when i start restoring the SupraTruck, i can pull the engine and trans from the Duster and place it back into the Supratruck. then at that point maybe then i could spare the $4000-$5000 to do the 2JZ swap. after you pay $2300 for the motor and ecu. $1500 for the trans and all the other things that will be required to make it run its not a cheap as we all would like to think.... so when i master the 5MGTE and if feel i need more power, i would be ready for the 2JZ swap.. as for the scoops the plan was making one for each side. it would look like crap if only one scoop.
