Howd you start likeing mopar?

My first car was a 72 gold duster /6, a/c. The fastest car in town at the time was a 340 Duster that the owner had poured a bunch of money into. He easliy smoked the next fastest car which was a 70 rt Bee with a 440-6 pak that was highly tuned. The third fastest car was a 70 LS6 454/460 horse Chevelle. Everybody in town was GM crazy and I was happy to be different with a Mopar. I have always had Mopars (last car was a 70 Duster with a 440 I put 6 grand in just the motor). Dont have that kind of money to spend now when I'm finished with my Dart in a few months 6 grand is what I'll
have in the whole car. LOL

My parents brought me home from the hospital in a 48' Plymouth Business Coupe. Nice car. We always had Plymouths or Dodges. All my relatives had Plymouths or Dodges. My Grandpa had cool 56' Dodge Lancer in red, grey and white. Mom and dad had 64' Fury when I started watching Richard Petty race one. I didn't ever consider not buying Mopar.

I was a young lad and the guy who lived directly across the street from my Dads house worked for Chrysler ... He used to buy various vehicles and flip them quickly .... I recall he bought a brand new 71 4 speed Demon , black with white stripes ... black interior , wing and snorkel hood ... To this day i can remember the black bias ply tires with white lettering ... some of you may remeber in those days ... the side of the tire had a checkerboard pattern ... I will never forget that car ... and to this day LOVE 340's... Someday i will get a DEMON ...

I always loved cars ever since I could remember maybe 4 or 5 years old.My Grandfather was a Ford man and my Uncles always had hot cars when I was a kid.My Uncles has Mustangs Mach I's,Olds 442's,and Trans Ams.My Father had Mopars in the late 60's and early 70's.My Father took me to the Mopar Nats in 1984 and I have been hooked ever since.I bought my first Mopar Aug 13,1985 when I was 15.It was a wrecked 68 Dodge Coronet 440.My Uncle and I spent 3 years restoring it.

Summer of 1970 my older brother ordered a plum crazy Swinger 340, 4 speed. He'd take me along as he went out and raced our cousin who had a 1970 GTX. The cars were dead even in terms of performance. I had to have a 340 car. Bought my first one in 1977 and have 5 in the quonset today.

I think I started life as a chevy/ ford/ mopar lover but in the end, the best came out on top. :D Dusters/ Demons and high impact colors got me into mopars.

I was 18 and looking for a cool driver, I had all ready had a 72 Chevelle and a 80 Camaro, a friend of a friend was selling a 69 Road Runner clone for $1800, just needed a starter. I grabbed it and have been stuck with both Mopars and being friends with the guy I bought it from (BossVegaV8) ever since.

My first car was a 1970 Dodge Polara 4dr, 318 car. Drove it for a week after I got my license and was hooked to Mopars ever since. Always loved the look of classic Mopar muscle cars of the 60's. These cars are in my opinion some of the most beautiful automobiles ever produced. I will ALWAYS be addicted to Mopar Automobiles.

Growing up in a town with a Ford and Chevy plant I was always fascinated with the Mopars in Hot Rod Magazine because I rarely saw them on the road around here. I absolutely fell in love with the rear glass and lines on the 66 Barracuda. I also learned to drive at the age of 13 from my grandfather in his blue Twister Duster with the red white and blue plaid seat (dont tell my mom lol)

mopar is the only thing my dads side of the family ever owned, moms side was chevy nuts, the 1st engine I ever seen was my uncles 413 long ram, with a carb setting on each fender well, mom had a 69 Chrysler town and country wagon with a 440, my uncle had a 70 340 4 speed duster, we used to ride around in that car everywhere, we would be out for a drive and the next thing we knew the sun was coming up, uncle ray would just look at everyone and say, we did it again, when I started driving in the late 70's all I ever owned was 60's-70's mopar, in drivers ed, they told us we could drive our own cars, as long as we let the other kids drive them as well, but they wouldn't let me take my 69 supper bee, after I fired it up, I told him the other kids could drive it, he said no way was he getting in that car with a kid behind the wheel, so we ended up taking some chicks 4 cly vega.

Lets see-my parents first car was a 37 DeSoto coupe. My first car was Grandmas 54 Plymouth Plaza wagon (26k then and 76k now, and I still have it)then the 66 New Yorker/36 Plymouth coupe/ 70 R/T 440+6 conv Challenger/67 GTX 440/60 Pontiac conv/80 Colt(new and still have)/64 Valiant slant 6 4speed conv/66 Valiant wagon/62 Jag MK X/67 Spriget/-I am sure I missed some thing in there.... ah the 98 Neon ACR

watching my dad redo his cuda when i was 5, he painted it lime green and i remember everyone always saying nice car asking him about it, i liked the attention.... i liked the power even more.

my first car was my vega... dad told me put it together if it gets smashed don't matter cause its a chevy lol.

since then i have my formula s, duster, roadrunner, 73 cuda, 72 cuda and 3 amxs (semi mopar)

it started with my neighbor's 70 satellite then his mint 68 fury III 2door 318 and a 76 volare /6. the cherry on top was when i recently i redid a friend,s 69 gts 340/4speed conv, that about did it 4 me. being a mechanic and working on multiple makes, its mopars or no cars for me. i now have 2 a bodies ,74 dart sport which i bought for 50$(basketcase) and my newest purchase is a 69 valiant signet 2 door post factory 273 car(father& son car) yeah,i got him hooked too!!!

My dad had a 65 Cornet 500 with a 383 4 speed when I got my learners permit it was red with white top. That's what I learned to drive on. Liked Mopars all my life.

For me it was back when I was about 8 and the neighbor's daughter's boyfriend showed up one day in front of the house with a black 68 Charger 440. I remember looking over at my brother and saying "whoa"!! I was hooked. About a year later the same neighbor's son came home with a red 69 Dart GTS. The son would occasionally put on a show for us if we prodded him enough. Thus my love of all things Mopar began!!

Came home from the hospital when i was born in a 1970 plymouth 340 cuda ... :) than came the dukes of hazzard and i was hooked.

Hi everyone, I was sitting here and started thinking how did you guys on here get into mopars or cars. I love hereing the storys from guys, so tell me your favorite or first memory of cars or that car the made you want to start wrenching. Just have fun with it.

It is in my genetics. When I was a little kid, grandpa had a 48 New Yorker, with the plaid interior, and it was a special occasion to ride in it. At 5, I remember standing up in the front seat of Dad's 55 Windsor, red and white two door hard top.
He bought a new, two tone green 58 2dhtp Coronet, then many more used Mopars after that.
My first car was a 57 Fury, and have had over 50 since.

The Drag strip when I was a kid. It was mostly Chevy there. But every once in awhile a mopar would show up. I always liked the look and loved the sound.

In 1979 when I was nine and my dad bought this 1967 Dart GT for a steal. He fixed it up and I remember driving down the street with him punching it and me thrown back into my seat loving every second of it. When I was 16 he sold that Dart to me for a loonie and the rest is history.

My Grandpa's 66 Coronet 440,white with black interior, old style 318,2 dr hardtop. I sure miss my Grandpa and that old 66........:(

First thing I can remember was my dad had a 1957 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer, black. Then he bought a 1963 Dodge Custom 880, new. In 1971 the 880 was my first car after my older sister and brother got done with it. Since then I've had a 73' Roadrunner 318. A 73' Charger SE, 400, 727. 73 Charger 440, 727. 68 GTX 426 Max Wedge. 71 Duster 440, 727. 5 Dodge Pickup trucks, 4 Dodge Vans and a Chrysler 300. Today I still own 6 of them. Mopar or No car!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Dad was always a Chrysler enthusaist, but what did it for me was seeing the "Mutt Bros" '68 Dart streetracing back in the day---ain't NUTHI'N like a hemi doing a burnout under an overpass at 3:00A.M. in December in NYC!:hello1:
It just took me decades to be able to afford a Mopar!
