I was changing the fuel filter on my stepsons Dakota today. The line broke lose and I got a face full of gas. Now I've had gas in my eyes, skin and in mouth before, but in my ears, never. That was some kind of painful. I luckily dodged the stream enough as to not get any directly in my eyes but by doing so I put my ear in harms ways and met the mother of all pains. I was not being careless but I didn't wear protection either which was my downfall. Anyways, about $125 for ER fees and a bunch of apologies to everyone that was around me at the time (I think that I made up new cuss words that first hour cause I ran out of all of the ones that I already knew) I felt urged to remind folks that a little protection can go a long way. Please be careful, I would hate for anyone else to have to go through that too...

That's a new one. I think I have had gas in almost every orfice of my body, but never in an ear. Ouch.

Hurts even more when you have a hole in your ear drum.

For me my worst gasoline experience was while taking a chassis mounted fuel filter off of a car on a lift. The gas ran down my arm into my arm pit. That burned like a mutha'...

Ohhh, Myyy GOD! That is inssssssane!

Antifreeze at -40 burns in a whole new way when it runs down your arm..... I am scarred for life.......

Thats sucks!

Next OSHA rule......

Safety glasses, face shield, and ear muffs shall be worn when working with gasoline......

Considering all the rupturing my drums have had from infection, I would have to go to the ER if it hurt that bad... You're just more of a man than us....

Try using a gas torch and the metal popping and sending a piece of red hot steel in your ear and being able to hear it sizzle in your ear, shaking it out and finishing the job.

I've had that happen while MIG welding out of position:eek: The sizzle is really nasty sounding!!

man, when i work on anything under the car that is fuel related,I keep my head clear AWAY and far away as possible.I wont put my face under anything that I know will leak any kind of fluid.

I got gas in an open cut on my arm when my dad and I were putting a new fuel line on my 95 lebaron. That sucked quite a bit.
