what im worried about is.when i have it in ratchet mode and bang the gears if i shift it again will it stay in drive or will it go in 1st?

Now, THAT I don't know. You will just have to get it out and look at it to see. I THINK that it stays in the ratchet mode until YOU take it out....but I honestly don't remember for sure.
