what is going on with all these so called fees to pay your bill at their place of buisness recently they started charging to pay in per5son at my local utilitesw, cable and mobile phone co. why should we be charged extra to pay in cash and travel to wait in line at their place of business can someone explain this other than they are taking advantage of customers i really dont call that a convience

they have to staff it, those cashier have lunch and break time, vacation. A armored truck pick up the money, accountant has extra work verifying cash is correct and there is no fraud with the non electronic payment. ect.. ect..

Convenience fee would probably mean that they are giving the convenience of walking in an paying. So an additional method to pay. Then these extra costs of doing so are pushed onto the customer. My phone bills are on autopay.

years ago in my town, they built new buildings for the gas company and the electric company, less than a year latter, you had to go to the supper market to pay your bills, and pay a fee to do so, I won't type what I think of this, as I don't want to get banned.

You must live in Coeur d Alene

Duke energy charges a $3.95 fee.
They also charge a $35 a month delivery fee for natural gas. My gas bill for the whole summer was less than the $35, but I paid $35 a month so we could cook. Pretty crappy, I think.

I pay ALL of my bills right here. Don't have to leave my chair and it doesn't cost a thing.

Because they are thieves! A convenience fee to pay in person? Yah, they conveniently rob you. I have been charged a convenience fee to pay online before ... now this is new to me ... apparently there is no way to avoid a fee.

Around here we have a "green fee" Which means when you go shopping somewhere you have to pay for those courtesy plastic bags... Which means the businesses want you to drop your eggs on the floor.
They encourage the use of bring your own bags.. I believe that creates a health hazard.

As for the conveinence fee. They have them at banks if you use a teller or they raise your bank account fees because you have to use the automated machines.

There is no longer a willingness to help the consumer after they have spent x amount of dollars at your business, but rather a "GET THE HELL OUT SO I CAN GET THE NEXT CUSTOMER OUT OF HERE SO MY COMPANY GET SCROUNGE MORE MONEY!"

Funny.

The companies want you to eithr send the checks to their corporate offices where they are staffed to deal with the payments, or they want you to pay electronically, which costs them less in human processing time.

They see it as an inconvenience to deal with people wandering in off the streets. They have to have someone there shuffle the payments, and probably send the payments to the corporate location for processing anyway.

Don't forget that if you send it to the central location or pay electronically it will hit their bank account more quickly, and start earning them interest sooner. These fees are basically punitive, encouraging you to pay in the way that makes them the most money.

I am a computer nerd that works with a bunch of accountants. It amazes me how much time and effort is put into making sure that the cash stays in the accounts that earn the most interest. You should see how Home Depot accepts and makes payments. It blows my mind.

Just another tax on the working stiff :angry7:.

I went to Safeway the other day. Picked up groceries, and a bottle of juice for the wife. Not only do I get dinged the $0.20 deposit on the bottle, but then they hit me with a $0.05 environmental levy. WTF? Isn't that what the deposit is for?

It's not like I'm gonna get the five cents back when I recycle. What a load of crap. :angry7:

Just Big Money taking more of mine, making me poorer by the day.

I pay my bills for cable/phone at an office at the mall but the elec co. closed all their places, so you can pay on line[not for me] mail payment[only have the money on or after the due date]or go to amscott and pay costs a dollar.Every bodys out to make a buck have you ever checked your grocery recept[ i bet you never even thought to check it] if you did the chance of a charge for something you didn't buy is on it, it's happened to me many times and yes i go back and get my money. They know most folks don't even check that's how they make money and they'll give it back no problem because it's just extra anyway.
