TTI headder Install Article from Mopar Muscle....

where you get "elitist" from?
Answer:
"you early a-body guys are a riot" and "Stop being whiners and accept a gift when you see one. You should be thanking them for aknowledging the pre-67 A-bodies.

So Early A-body guys/cars should feel lucky and privileged that we are even mentioned in the same magazine as 67 and later mopars?

You just seemed to come off that way is all. Surely not your intention I hope. We early a-body guys are a tight niche in the mopar scene because we have been overlooked for so many years.

There is no reason to bash a reputable company and a magazine for trying.
It's nice that the Early-As are starting the get their due and TTI and Mopar Muscle has recognized that. The article, like many have pointed out, could have been a better. It was not perfect. Like I said before, I think better articles will follow. TTI will continue to improve and expand their products. Everyone knows TTI is one of the best. It's a good thing FABO is around so the so called unknown/cleverly undisclosed details are revealed. That's what this site is all about. Oh and bitching too of course.

As a matter of fact, I was looking at a 65 dart before I bought my 68 two months ago.
If you had gotten that Dart I'm sure you would have loved it, but then you may have been a little more sensitive or better yet had an understanding of the early A-body issues that have been a struggle for so many years. We can't change what MaMopar did 40 years ago and I can see why there are certain complainers and whiners out there. I don't support them but I am empathetic. It's just the way you came off is all. I'll cut you some slack because you considered the early A. :butthead:

Late

Would it have been better if they did nothing at all? They were clearly limited in that the car they used was non-running.

the car running has nothing to do with the starter issue... from what i understand if you call tti they make no secret about the starter issue wich is the way it should be... from what i hear tti's directions clearly address the starter issue.. like i said i have no issue with tti.. its cool that they made them...

its cool that the magazine did the article. but like i said it would have been nice if they addressed the starter issue a little more... they barley mentioned it... i already knew about the starter before i read the article.. i'm just saying that for someone that is just getting into their early-a that it would have been nice of the magazine to give a clearer veiw on the starter issue... it may make the difference in weather or not some guys will buy them or not... some think it would be better to be able to go into any parts store and buy a starter rather then buying one from tti or summit... and again. what the heck does a running car have to do with a starter fitting??

Oh, and as far as the "starter issue", they are not hiding this fact, they are letting you know ahead of time that you probably will have to buy a new starter. Why don't you try to have a starter custom modified to fit, have an adaptor machined, and then do a bunch of testing, what will that cost you? $225 for a low-production, application specific starter is a steal. Its a tight fit, obviously, so there were some thing that needed to be done to make it all fit.
Just thought I'd add: No starter issue with Dougs and you don't have to grind down the oil filter adapter bolt. Look at all the headers before making a choice!

Wow, We do an article showing a new product, and we get bashed!?!?! Go figure. Since i am the "idiot" that wrote the article, I guess I should respond. We didn't spend a lot of time on the starter issue, becuse we didn't need to replace it in this instance. BUT, we did mention it, so reader's knew that they might have to replace it. We are also sure that some, like us, probably won't.

We thought the article would be something about a NEW part, that a lot of early A-body guys would like to read.

There was no political or financial adgenda with the article. We found out about them, we wrote an article.

See I told you guys they are watching! I once wrote something on a forum and was surprised to see it in the letters section of a magazine.

Randy, I saw the article for what it was, keep up the good work, you can't please everyone all the time.

Sorry guys - I had to delete the article - I got this email this morning.

yea they read here when someone e-mails them with a link..:)

may as well delete the entire thread if the article is gone...

Yikes!!!! They ARE watching :eek:ops: You were right Flyboy.!!! :goodman: Really, I think it is cool that Randy is on the forum. It's just another way to get feedback on a recently written piece. Obviously, most of us are aware of the starter issue and it was clearly mentioned by Randy. Just not in mind numbing detail. Make a call to TTI. They are good peeps.

BTW Randy I did learn a couple things from the article. I was siked to see the article.

Wow. Busted by the Foos. [-X

If somebody did, it wasn't me. Quite frankly, I am embarrased that he did see this.

I copied my original post to this thread and emailed it to MOPAR MUSCLE. I did not include a link or recall a specific reference to this site. So if my correspondence to the magazine caused the problem, I apologize to all.

Flyboy, you and I just aren't going to get along. I'm just going to agree to disagree with your argument, demeanor and general attitude.

I'm through with this one... Peace.

Did you turn that over to your legal dept? Gotta watch that unauthorized use thing

Randy- Thanks for some attention on early a's. I have moaned about the parts situation in the past but I realize the early a is not as popular as the later a body mopars. Does that mean they are rare & desirable? For me, YES!
I could have bought an e-body for what I have in my 66 Dart, but when I go to shows, there are 50 e-bodies to 1 early a. So I like mine because it's something different. Keep up the early a coverage please!

Ok, what about late model a bodies with TTI's and starters? I have a 73 with a 360 and power steering. I want to use TTI headers and exhaust, and I was going to pick up a light weight mini starter from Mancini, are htere clearance issues there?

Good job Randy, I read the article and thought it was good. It didn't go into much detail but from this thread it did stimulate some thought. Keep writing those articles. If you plan on writing more on the early A body experience I'd be more than happy to provide pics of areas that the headers affect such as the brake distribution block.

I think this site is the best source of information available. Why? Because it is information from people that love Mopars and get their hands dirty. The magazines are supporting sponsors and trying to boost sales. You guys/girls respond to questions with experience and no bias to one manufacturer or another. I still buy the magazines for the pictures and enjoy looking at them but for technical information I come to FABO. Just my 2-cents.
i can second that, i get the mag, sure its alot of e/b bodies but i love the pictures and now i like the young gun articals(sp). and fabo will give me more info and faster then mopar muscle mag will. plus i get to socialize with fellow a body owners  :angel9:

I was a bit dissapointed at the lack of content in the
article but I give Mopar Muscle a pat on the back for starting the ball rolling.
I'm sure there will be more articles written on these headers as time goes on.
The "Early A's" shouldn't be considered a "stepchild". That's a slap in the face to those of us who own one. The '63-"66 a-bodies were born to fill a market niche' for a smaller more economy car. Ford had the Falcon and soon to be released Mustang. Chevy had the Corvair and models like the Nova. There were VW's and import cars were starting to swim across the big pond from Japan. Chrysler downsized their 318 to the newer LA design, smaller, lighter, and more powerful. The early A bodys were designed around that engine, the same engine design that you later A-Body guys have under the hoods of your rides. The 67' models changed out of a need for larger engines as the muscle car days began. The early-A's aren't like the Edsel was to Ford. We still had high compression V-8's 833-4 speeds and 8 3/4 Sure
Grips available in our "less than desirable" model years.
So everyone out there in Early A-Body land keep up the good work and keep makin' them parts. We appreciate everything new that comes out. I'm still waiting for repro headlight bezels for a 66 Dart. LOL toolmamike

ps. I was the only "early a" Dart at the car show and I like it that way!

Randy, thanks for the early A exposure. More, more, more! Just cause I don't quite agree with some articles(in what ever mag) it's still good to see you guys still are tring to please us(as in every inthusest(I can't spell to save my aZZ this morning) of the mopar realm. Please do more early A stuff.

Also randy could you get me in constact with the guy that owns that car? I'm interested in knowing more on his Z-bar.

Lee

you may not get stoned to death but you do get threatened to have legal action taken if you disagree with those clowns... i constantly see scanned pics from all the magazines on all the mopoar boards and the only one that got deleted because the clowns from the magazine complained was the one that not everyone sucked their *** with positive comments.... its like a little kid... you criticized me so i'm taking my ball and going home.....lol

And there you stand, all alone, with no ball to play with, except your own.
