Well I picked this truck up this spring running for $500 and it's finally time to tear into it. My wife has taken over half of the garage with her mini van for the winter and space is tight so I will be working on this truck one section at a time (Bed, Cab and front clip). Gotta love trucks with frames.

My plans are for a reliable, cheap 4X4 truck that will see the occasional mountain road. Overall the truck is very solid other than two small rust spots in the passenger door and quarter. My plans are to strip the body down and pound out any dents and shoot a base clear in dark blue metallic. The body will not be perfect, because the bed is pretty hammered on this thing from all of the years of farm use and I am sure that I will put some scratches and dings in it anyway.

It is getting a 3" body lift as well as 3" suspension lift. 35" tires should be perfect. The truck came from the factory with the Dana 44 up front, 8 3/4 in the rear, Divorced NP205 transfer case and 4 speed. Should be fun.

The tired 318 is coming out and is getting the Magnum headed 318 from my dart. It is a torquey little motor and should be perfect for the build.

I will be tracking every cent that I put into this truck and will see how cheap I can build it.

Sweet!!! I am subscribed! can't wait to see what you do with this truck, its already pretty cool!

Very cool. That's pretty much the truck I want. :)

D100? Weren't the 4x4 trucks W100s, or is that just on the '83+ models?

Here is the 318 that's going in the truck. Rebuilt with only 2,500 miles. Here are the specs.

9.0-1
KB Flat top pistons
Comp XE256
Mildly ported Magnum heads
Chebby springs and 1.6 roller rockers
Cat gear drive
Holley vac secondary 4160 carb.
Air Gap intake

Runs good and according to Desk top dyno it should make 310-330 Hp 360-370lb tq.

The other day I was bored and decided to modify the rear bumper to more of an off road style. It is very strong 1/4" C channel and the receiver hitch ties into a frame cross member with 1/2" plate and the bumper is capped with 1/4" plate on both ends. The D Rings are 3/4". Do you like my halogen lights for tailgaters?

Took the bed off of the truck so I can start stripping it for paint. I plan on installing new hard wood in the bed and tearing out the plywood bed. As you can see the truck has been used and abused by the pictures. I did find out that one of the cab mounting brackets is completely broken and will need to be welded back together.

I will follow your build here. As I have a 75 that will someday be a project. I've had mine 17 years so far. Good luck with the build.

DAMN! Wish I could find them like that in Illinois. Looks like your major work is going to be interior.

That is a nice clean rust free truck.

Whats the difference between a D series and a W series Dodge pu?

well since we're posting "W" truck builds on an "A" body forum heres a couple of mine I did a few years back. won 1st place at the Mopar Nationals, and Best lifted truck at Summit Truckfest and several magazine spreads. good luck with the build nice clean starting point.

That's what I'm talkin' about. Beautiful truck. I love the wheels and tire combo. How big is the lift and what is the tire size? The stance looks perfect.
