Checking for head machinist in Southeast

Ok so I dropped by the machinist that had done work for me in the past on other cars. The one guy that used to talk and work with wasn't there, so I spoke with another guy. Getting an idea on what all I might need to look at as far as expense goes for a rebuild this coming year.
He developed a pained look look when I brought up the word 'slant'. Pricing was reasonable but when it came to talking about head work it was all over. Phrases like ' ...pain in the a**' , '... was a headache', and '..said I'd never do another slant 6 head for performance' pretty much said all I needed to know.
SO... looking to find who might be more slant friendly in the southeast area, N. FL, S. Alabama, or Georgia. And knows something about tweaking up a slant 6 head. Any ideas?
