I debated about posting this but am too stoked not to. My business partner ( local police officer ) and I have filed articles of incorporation in IL and today we received word from the BATF that based on our application for a Federal Firearms License an on site interview is to be scheduled. Playing phone tag now with the agent but hopefully the interview will be next week. This comes at just the right time since we have a chance of getting between 10-20 Glock 21 C ( .45 ACP ) w/3 each hi cap mags that the local police force is replacing. Cool way to start a firearms business ( if it works out ).
Looks like my week-end will be spent with a coffee pot, ashtray, and around 700-800 pages of Fed' and state regulations ( in addition to time already spent ) studying.

Wish us luck.....hopefully look for gungetters.com. dba: D&R Firearms

Get to it  and study hard and enjoy your time studying :happy10:
Best to you and hope things work out for you bargeahead, and be careful up there.

THX Mike, means a bunch to me. "Enjoy studying" ...well...this might be the first study session I've had since Coast Guard License back in the 70's and that was the first since highschool.

Last time I studied something was installing my Offy and dual manifolds for my slant six :toothy10:.
Only one page and that was to much for me..

You can do it :happy10:

hopefully it works out for you, that'd be awesome.
guns are my main hobby, and i've been wanting a g21. let me know if you get them i might want to get one from you if you're willing to ship to CA!

Good luck, heard they are a real ball buster......

Good luck Roger. Hope your business takes off, think ya got a good thing there. 8) Drink all the coffee ya want but stop smoking!! :angry7:

Good luck. I am a bit of a gun nut. Mostly rifles, but I would love a glock in .45 ACP. I have an S&W M&P .40 and a revolver in .480 Ruger and would love to have an in between round if the price was right.

My experince is that the regular BATF field agents are just regular folks, its not till you get a couple rungs up into the organization that you start to encounter the Klingons.

Stay away from upper management and you should be fine.

Good luck!

I live about 10 minutes from Urbana. Let me know where your setting up business. And I would assume that A Body members get the preferred buyer discount? LOL!

i hope everything works out for you and your business partner! i have family in marshall i might have to plan a trip up :)

Awesome news Roger!!! I wish you the best of luck and every success with your new venture.

And if they don't like what you have to say ... just go postal on 'em. << duckin >>

Sincere thanks to all for the well wishes. From what I gather the "interview" is more to see that the business ducks are in a row and that real selling is intended instead of hobby supporting. By the time ATF schedules an "interview" we must have been checked, double checked, and considered "appropriate". But I'm still hitting the study guide on regs. Wife even gave up a linen closet ( added lock ) until we get a gun safe.

Good luck,I was thinking of getting a FFL but I decided the BATF was more of a headache than I wanted to deal with.

I wish you luck but you better get on the stick. I see that Obombadoma has appointed one of the most anti-gun people in the country---from your very own state---to head the BATF

Thank you for the link. Glad I popped back in. Letter copied and forwarded but think Kirk to be more receptive than Durbin. We'll see. Next "lever" and "wheel" ?

Again thanks for all the well wishes. My biz partner and I have been playing phone tag with the ATF field agent to set up "THE" interview. Welllllll, Dean talked to him this evening and and the interview is scheduled for next Wed', the day after I go back to work on the boat. BUT, it's no problem since only one of us has to be there..........YEA !

AND !!!! Dean got the impression the FFL is basically a done deal by now except for confirming compliance with local zoning laws and checking business address, firearm storage, and state articles of incorporation, etc. The "interview" is to be going over regulations and paperwork filing/record keeping.

We also got our start on reloading by buying a Dillon 650 ( tricked out but much more to buy ) from our local transfer FFL who will be retiring soon.

All in all I would say things are on track.

Congrats on the new adventure barge. Very cool and wishing you the best of luck 8)
