Need 3K converter...

OK, heres my take on PTC. And I need to make a few points clear. I had a old TCI 8 inch converter, that I broke, after many, many years of use. I sent it to PTC for repair. In my opinion the repair charges were pretty high (however I did not ask for an estimate, ahead of time). I could have bought a new converter for close to the same price. So lets assume, that for the price charged, they did a complete refurbish, with updated parts (hence the price). Then I would think the almost 30 year old converter would be better then it was prior to breaking (which it was not, about the same). The converter I used to replace the broken converter, was the Edge 9 1/2 inch, which cost me less then the repair to the 8 inch. The difference in performance between the two converters was not noticable, in the same car. Any difference could be atributed to running on different days.
All that said, the PTC repaired converter did work fine and I am still running it in my 66 Cuda with a 170, and the Edge converter is in my 66 Valiant with a 225.
There are many Slanters using the PTC, with good results, and are happy with it.
I think they are both good companies. Just make sure any Co. you talk to gets the same info about your car/engine, so you can compare apples to apples.

well thakn you for breaking it down like that!

so you know i bought the edge converter, and andre is a great mopar guy!!

thanks for the help and cant wait to see the difference!
