Hello fellow A-body fans,

I'm relatively new to this forum, but not new to A-bodies. While I don't have one currently, in the past I have had an AP5 and a VC wagon.

Right now I'm looking for a 1964 or 1965 Valiant convertible to import from the USA. It's almost impossible to find one on this side of the Pacific, we only got sedans and wagons in that era. If anyone knows of a reasonably tidy one for sale, I'd really appreciate them letting me know via a PM.

Regards,

Brad

Welcome to FABO, Brad, from SoCal. You're going to have fun here.
Good luck with your search.

Welcome from the tropical end of Oz.

You can look at early dart convertibles too. They're essentially the same as AP5/AP6/VC

Poor guy from down under thinks we all look like our avatars! Sporty, many of our avatar photos are for fun. Welcome to Fabo. I am a fan of early A's myself.
Got some photos? toolman

Welcome Sporty88. This is a great site for expert advice and hilarious humor. It just seems we get one confused from the other.

I was in Perth in about 1980 for a couple weeks. The people were absolutely terrific. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I have been to quite afew countries (military 22 years, mostly on the go, never home) and hands down Australia was the best. "Aussies" have alot to be proud of. Thanks.

Unfortunately the only photos I have of them is where they ended their days, becoming parts cars about 10 years ago.

I know that they look like they could have been saved, but the AP5 had no tailgate, rust in the floors and C pillars and a cracked chassis rail near the steering box (common on Aussie Vals), and the VC had a seized engine, a big dent in the left-hand rear door and rust pretty much everywhere (one of the problems of living near the coast). Back then, that made them uneconomical to fix.

A sad end for them, but at least they gave their lives so that others may live.

You can use the Jaxed/Mash search to pull up all the Valiant convertibles currently appearing on Craigslist and Kijiji nationwide across the US, as well as e-bay and Hemmings on line, all together in a single search.

Cars on line is another good place to check http://www.cars-on-line.com/plymouth.html

Check Auto Trader as well http://www.autotraderclassics.com/f...ecords=25&make=Plymouth&conversationId=100230

Valiant convertibles were also built and sold in Mexico. The 65 Mexican Valiant Acalpulco convertibles and hardtops are especially cool since they're basicly the same as a US Valiant Signet but they were built with a 65 Barracuda grille.
Heres a link to a site with vintage cars for sale in Mexico http://www.autoclasico.com.mx/site/default.aspx From this link, go to "Autos en Venta" and enter "Valiant" for your search or "buscar" .

Most of the Canadian built Valiant convertibles used Dart bodies, though in 63 and 64 the Canadian Dart bodied Valiants had US Valiant front end sheet metal and grille.
