"Rookie-Touring" '69 Dart

FINALLY my turn!!! It's been a long year of watching everybody here making progress on their builds, ordering parts and tools, only to have them lie in wait. But now the game has begun, for me anyway!

Got back to Michigan late Wednesday and spent Thursday running around trying to get things cleaned, organized, boxes opened and unpacked, taking inventory of all the new stuff, and other prep work. Also dropped my rear-end off at Drive Train Specialists to get it assembled with fresh internals, 3:73 gears and a fresh posi since the spider gears were slightly roached (Viper guys...).

Friday I started working on my chassis table but ran into problems with my welder and band saw. Thought I had the issues with my welder worked out but not so much and I finally caved in and bought a new wire liner yesterday. I bought a new plasma cutter (love that thing) and welder in November but the welder was damaged in shipping so I'm waiting on parts for that before I use it and was holding out on a liner but had to cave because my welds were looking like globs of "i-suck-ness". Chassis table is now finished though I may go back, grind down some glob and clean up some of the welds. (it's embarrassing). I finished the table before having to quit for the evening yesterday so I didn't have a chance to level it out. I'll take care of that Monday morning, all while praying for minimal distortion... Here is a pic of the table.

I am also still working on my band saw. I did buy a new one from H.F., but I don't want to keep it and haven't opened it yet. After examining what they had on display and talking with my dad and a couple other guys, I learned the spring on mine is WAY too small which is dulling my blades way too fast. I also found that the key to hold the drive pulley in place had fallen out which is why it wasn't working. I'm going to pick up a new spring Monday and a new blade and I should be good to go with that. Monday I'm going to set the car on the table after I get it leveled, then start assembling the Viper frame sections and suspension pieces to get it mocked up and build a suspension jig. I'll also be cutting out (love the plasma!) the floor and frame rails at the same time.

Onward and upward baby! Good stuff is going down. But it's freaking cold here!!! More pics to come as I get the good stuff done.
