In my limited experience, Holley carbs don't HAVE problems, they ARE problems. I've discovered that if you want to go all-out, top end, drag race, acceleration to the max then Holley carbs are for you. If you want a car that will actually idle, has good low end power and overall driveability then it's Carter or Edelbrock all the way. I know this doesn't help your problem, so pardon my soapbox......good luck figuring it out!
