Reasonably common over here.
The Aussie ute is/was pretty much the standard commercial/passenger offering over here much the same way as the US looks at F100/Ram/D100/etc.
Americans seem fascinated by our utes so I was thinking of starting an "Aussie Ute Thread" to show you good people all the various models.They came in vans too.
