Well the 66 Dart made it to Ed,s without any salt on it.Weee!Ed and I got it up on stands and started in on it.Now I knew the left rear 1/4 had some major damage from 40 yrs ago and had been buttered up real good, but WOW!!bondo right over the paint??WTF?So now I,m looking for a left 1/4 panel or some 1/2 replacement panels for a 66 Dart 170.Anybody know were I can get one or some?AMD??Whats the name of the Desert place?MotorCity auto wreckers????Anyway,it was nice to spend some time with Ed working on the car.Ed and his wife and kids made me feel at home, shared dinner and slept on the couch.Ed and I were in tears laughing late lastnight reading Mullinax,s HAND thread.(priceless)LOL.Pics of the 66 Dart at Ed,s and a big job ahead.

You sure have been a busy man Scott 8)
Your welds and reworked tank looks great =P~
Now when I make a trip to Canada I see there will be room for a passenger for a pass down the track =P~
What is the secret color you are going with on this mean 66 :-D

Sorry Memike, haven,t quite picked the exact color(so many to choose from)I will tell you this much,it will be blue.LOL:toothy10:

So what will you do after this ? Some sort of primer sprayed once or twice then spray with the colour of the car ? Bare metal is rather pretty ..too bad there is rust..

Is there a best primer out there ?

Grassy

I,m pretty sure once it,s down to bare metal,it will be sprayed with etching primer, some puddy on the bad spots, then primed again.I could be wrong Grassy as I,m not a bodyman, just the grunt.LOL

Had to look these up. Didn't realize that it was such a controversial subject - etcher vs. epoxy. The reason I ask ..if we are pulling everything off the car to replace, it would be almost criminal not to flip the car and with drills, wire brush the bottom . Trying to find a rotisserie to rent / borrow. With etcher, you have to have all the paint off and if you are doing body work, it will not stick..or so one site says.

I made the mistake of buying an underpowered air compressor.. the real numbers do not equate wit the ones on the machine ehrn I bought..i can just do light sand blasting but cnnot use a wench nor sander.

Looking forward to the next installment. I am quite enjoying this thread.

Ian.
