Super Bee CC - What years of Mexican Super Bee have that speedometer in them?

Also how difficult is just the speedometer to find?

Hi Grassy,

I am going to leave the suspension just how it come... In the big cities we have reasonable streets...
All car ( any brand ) build in Mexico, to stay in Mexico, or cars import to the Mexican market must have Km by law.

Mexican citizens can import classic cars..., but need to be 30 years old or older, and we can leave the speedo in miles with no problem.
The taxes to import a classic car is 75% of the value given by customs and don't know where this guys consult the prices...?

I know of two companies that restore instruments and can fix them from miles to km or vice versa. Not sure if they work every brand but you can ask...

Check at google.

North Hollywood speedometer and Palo Alto Speedometer.

It's very hard to find one. I live in the northeast of mexico, the city is monterrey and we are 3'000,000 of people. I haven't seen one since a very long time. Very near the border of texas. They were very popular in the 70's and the guys that buy them race them a lot... Searching in a couple of mexican web pages i found my 71, but in very poor shape. I found it in the city of mexico (1 hour flight form home). The seats are bucket like the 70 duster but the texture is different form the us version. The big black decal on the quarter panel with the round super bee and bee is a mexican site. I buy the round super bee decal in the states but need to fabricate the big decal. The steering wheel is like a 70 cuda car (imitation of wood with 3 black bards) and it came with the shack grill. The only size of the engine available was 318 with standard trans, no auto.
And some miner details different form the duster.

I would like to know more about the 4 barrel 270 HP 318 engine the mexican super bee's had, does anyone know what parts were used? I am guessing a 273 commando intake and carb and 340 cam possibly?
 
WOW !!! These Super Bees are incredible !!!!

Not too long ago , someone was selling a 1970 Dart GTS ; car was in the Palm Springs or Indio area , and am not sure if it sold ...

I have a fan page on facebook that's dedicated to foreign-built MoPars , and would like to see mi amigos join it and participate in it ! 8)8)8)

The only Mexican Super Bees I've seen in person were :

- 1977 ( F-Body based )
- 1974 ( Dart Sport based )

I met the fellow whom owns the 1977 model . He lives somewhere in mid-central Mexico ; he and a friend drove up to the Spring Fling Chrysler show in Van Nuys a number of years back . He was quite friendly , and was surprised that I showed such an interest in his 'Bee .
Seems that there were too many close-minded folks at the show that either shunned him or thought ( wrongly ) that he was "in the wrong place" :angry7::angry7::angry7: .
I let him know how much I appreciated his attendance , and offered him encouragement 8)

Thanks to our amigos for sharing their cool rides !
And thanks to our "Great White North" bradah for sharing his Lime Lite Green 'Bee !!

Very cool....they made some weird stuff south of the border, if someone would have told me there was a Plymouth Super Bee I would have told them they were crazy lol! :tard:

plymouth never sold cars in mexico , plymouth models where sold under dodge or chrysler name for example: dodge valiant superbee and chrysler barracuda :toothy10:

Hi DarTT.

The engine mustard yellow is how the mexican super bee came from the factory. Doesn't look to cool but it how it was. The only different look that my car will have will be the wheels and tires.
If I am not wrong the original size of the wheels were 6x14 with Poligrass tires in 70. No magnesium or aluminum wheels. All Super Bees came with cups.

Thank you but to be honest with you and all the friends of the forum. The car is at a professional restoration shop. I haven't make anything, just looking for the parts, buy them and send them to the shop... so the restoration can continue...

In the next 2 or 3 months I have the intention to have the exterior of the car ready. Front grill, lights...etc... wheels and tires...

All the exterior decals and lines will go in semi gloss black. Need to be done by a specialist, there is nothing for sale on the market, they were made in Mexico, something similar to the American Super Bee decals. The circle on the rear of Super Bee will have the bee in yellow, exact to the American Super Bee, the only thing that i am trying to find out is the size. Not sure if it's a little smaller...i am making my research

With the help of my other Mexican friends that are in this forum and the pictures they have been posting, It will help me to send them made in this next days.

I actually like the colour of the engine . Looks like Cat Yellow or School Bus Yellow .
Beats seeing yet another orange engine ( excepting the 1971 & earlier cars that came with orange motors originally ) .

Weren't some of the motors painted a silver shade as well ?

Hi zip0113, very nice to know from you on the forum. Your mexican super bee is a very nice car, you just can´t find a 70-71 in mexico with the carcateristics of your car. At least I haven´t seen or know of a good one for the moment.
In case, in the future you decide to sell it please let me know. Or maybe exchange for another car, like 71 Renault 1600S Alpine.
