Except for the first one that took a few weeks to pass I've been passing them pretty fast, within a few days. As long as they pass they don't seem to want to do anything for ya.

Ultrasound is only used to locate the stone... the method of breaking them up is Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Say that three times.
Uses shock waves to break up a area pinpointed.

Passed a small one just before Christmas... some of lifes little treasures.. blah !

I have stuck to a pretty good regiement of diet... and still get them. Mine are Calcium based mostly. There are literally hundreds of things that can cause them... Coffee, teas, soda, etc.. The worse one is Hereditary. Which you can do nothing about. Your body just creates them because your body doesnt like calcium.

Get a prescrition of Flowmax as it opens the path. Also have a stand by of Codine, or lots of Ibuprofen. Lots. Get me through each time. Pain is manageable now cuz I know when they are coming.

Unfortunately I can't use Flomax as it gives me severe migraines but luckily I have a script for Vicodin cause of my back problems. The problem is a lot of times it hits me so sudden I don't have a chance to get a vicodin down.

my doc told me the same thing no coffee or greens or peanuts. worst pain ever and ive had atleast a dozen and 2 surgeries. prayer for ya hope it ends soon..

Thanks for the prayers. Right now I feel that's about the only thing that helps as the doc doesn't seem to do much.

My urologist gave me a document called "Dietary Recommendations for recuurent Kidney Stones". I scanned it and you can download it at the link below if interested. It's an eye opener and I'm a miserable failure at following the recommendations. He told me to ignore the page on 'Dietary Protein' because it didn't apply to me (the type of stones I get?)
