battery time

Optima batteries are great but they have to stay on a trickle charger unless you're driving the car every day.

where did ya get that from? maybe you have a slow draw in your electrical system. my red top will sit all winter out in the tent. i'll let it sit a month or so at a time ( i try to start and warm it up about once a month, month and a half during winter ) and the car fires right up. that thing has to be about 5 years old by now.

i have read a few posts saying the optima isn't what it used to be ever since johnson controls run the show now. but i really don't know. i believe mine was bought before they started making them..

i have a few friends running the duralast from auto zone and they have nothing but good to say about them.

here are the optima and dura last batters for a 318 71 dart. should be the same for your car.. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1971-Dodge-Dart/Battery/_/N-iq34sZacy27
