What kinda wiring and relay for fuel pump?

Hi all. I'm in the process of re-doing some of the previous owner's (shoddy) electrical work.
He has the holley fuel pump being powered by a wire leading straight to a fuse in the fuse box. When the turn signal is on, you can HEAR the pump pulsing with the turn signal. OBVIOUSLY not right.
I know the best thing to do is to run from the battery with a relay and fuse to the pump.
What kinda relay and fuse should I run? And, also, what do people mean when they say strait off the battery? Should I tap into a wire coming right off the battery pos., then into a relay, than fuse, than to the pump?
I'd also like to add a switch to this setup for anti-theft and to prevent battery drain.
Thanks in advance.
