This is on the local classifieds. He makes it very clear that he is not a mopar guy. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=0&nid=443&tab=list/view&ad=3701433

RUST / FREE California car!!!! Not pretty by any means. Just SOLID NO-RUST. SOLID FLOORS. SOLID TRUNK. SOLID BODY and WHEEL-WELLS. You are NOT looking for a 72 Duster as a daily driver. You are looking at this ad as a car for restoration. If I was Mopar Dude? I would make this into a drag car.

Don't call me asking what kind of mileage it gets? How it handles? How it runs? How are the tires? [they are skinny ugly and wore out.] How is the paint? [very dull ugly and flat] How many doors does it have? [for those of you who can't comprehend Chrysler only produced the Duster with two of them] I have NEVER driven this car and I have no idea if it runs? The body is pretty straight and VERY SOLID. If you are reading this car ad you are looking for a Duster to turn into a tire shredding asphalt chewing machine.

The price for this fine California blue license plate 1972 Mopar specimen is 2,500.00/ FIRM !!!!!! If you don't come give me all your money. I will be forced to let it rot and rust back into the earth for the next couple of decades since I have plenty of space in my storage yard for just such poop to take place. So you better come rescue it....don't you think?

NO- I will NOT send you a picture. If you want to see my car. You will need to put that twinkie down and get off your fannie and come do so.......

NO-BLOCKED phone calls will be answered or tolerated.

FOR KSL MEMBER _gfdf gdfdf_________Sorry to disappoint, I don't swing that way as you were hoping. So please don't offer that as a partial payment, Thank You,

Sounds like a real D-BAG, probably got his *** kicked buy a few Mopars in his day, still can't get over it! I'll bet 100 to 1 he drives a cheby!!!

It always gets me how chebby guys don't like mopars but always want top dollar with no information and no pics you just buy it to save it. Good luck on this sale!!

he sounds like a real piece of work. I bet 50 to 1 its rusted through in the floors. He sounds like the kinda person who would waste your time telling you "its rust free" and wont send you pics so you have to go down there and let him jerk you around. :angry7:

I wonder how someone 1,500 miles away is suppose to look at a 2,500 dollar car? I will FLY there, look at it in person and go from there because I want a 72 Duster real bad.:bootysha:

Some people think they arer witty, and aren't. Some people think that their ad will get more attention if they "spice it up." His ad is getting some attention because of his "spice." Some people are just douchebags.

If you ask nicely, someone in the area may offer to go take a look for you, and save you a trip. I would guess it's a real beater.

Why is everyone making a big deal about the California plate cars lately? Does it mean jack if it's no longer in Cali? I guess maybe it's "proof" that it spent part of its life a long time ago in a warm, dry climate.

Warm dry climate. BINGO!!!! Heck, we have had 30 inches of snow so far here in Iowa. What ya think all of the SALT does to our vehicles. Hell yeah it`s a big deal! lol. I suppose if ya knew someone in every state you are looking at cars in then you are right.

Ya I don't know either. They can rust too. Maybe not as fast or easy but if there not taken care of they will. Case in point I picked up a 75 Duster and did not bother to look at the floors. It is a SoCal car right? Will not make that mistake again:angry7:

Indeed it did, perfect for when the brakes go out. One time my mom lost her purse through the floor back when he used to still drive it daily. Once I drove through a puddle when it was like 40 degrees out once, wanna talk about shrinkage, I experienced it... Anywho, the body work is about halfway done. I've stripped the dead paint and primed the car, the floorboards is the biggest concern for now. I've been trying to convince dad to get a 200 we can build the piss out of it with and aluminum head and four barrel setup from FordSixPerformance. Get a 9" rear and a T-5, it'll be a beastie. I'm fighting a battle though, everyone at work tells him he should go with a V8. I say V8?!? WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' V8'S!!! Besides, father-son hot-rod 6 bangers would kick ***. :snakeman:

You win. Lucky you. HAHAHAHA
Yeah, lucky me... Hey wait, what's the prize?

The worst thing for these cars is WATER! Gets in around the windshield,in the trunk, around the windows and just sits there. Bang rust holes.

I understand that a warm, dry climate can be good when talking about rust. My main question is why is everyone bragging about the old plates on the cars? I've seen it a ton lately. I can underatand, maybe, if it's still in California, but do people in Utah really care?

I find it funny.

No way would I ever go see the car, or talk to the guy, but I think it is funny.

The only way I would get in touch with a guy like that, is if he had something REALLY desirable and rare.

Indeed, a warm dry climate is great for cars. When you live in NC where it's warm and dry for 6 months, then cold rainy and snowey for another 6, you get results like the ones my dad's car saw. I myself don't understand the tag thing either. My Dad's car came with a NC tag on the front dated 1965, the year of the car. We kept it there cause we thought it was neat. But I still don't get into the tags that much.

Its probably his attempt at minimizing the hassles of selling a car. I see his point. How many times do people phone and ask questions answered in the ad or for your address without even making an appointment? Lots of guys like to collect pics but have no intent of buying. For a local sale I would do the same - ask a few questions and come and see the car if you are serious. That said, if there is too much attitude it just turns people off from even calling.

Badart is a good guy, who is willing to turn on fellow members to good deals. (I bought the Pink Dart, if you remember, and drove out to Salt Lake City to pick it up. Long but fun trip). But to the guy selling this one, I would not drive around the corner to look at it.

I called a local guy once about a 76 Dodge D100. I just wanted to ask about the registration, how it ran and if it was rusty. He went on and on for about 20 minutes just talking about every little piece of history on this thing. Then after he was jawing my ear off, he got mad and was like "Look man either come see it or just move on. I don't have time for tire kickers" lol
