My 71 Swinger Build

Here are some pictures of the 440. Believe it or not I picked up this 440 long block for $200. How you might ask? A friend of mine who at the time played ball for the cardinals had bought a 70 challenger with the intentions of installing a 6.1 in it and this motor was just resting in the engine compartment. It was taped up but covered in dust and dirt and didnt look like anything special. I offered to buy it from him and we agreed on $200. I had no idea what I was getting but I wanted it for my swinger anyway. About six months later I put the engine on a stand and began tearing it down to see what needed to be done. To my surprise everything inside was brand new, never been fired. I was in shock! When it was assembled they had used that nasty white grease for the assembly lube and it basically just turned into glue it had been in there for so long. So I pulled the pan, heads and camshaft and cleaned everything. The cam is an old howards piece and the numbers checked out to be .509 lift and .232 duration which would work perfect for what I needed. I then reassembled it and painted it to match the car. Here are some pics.
