I've seen a couple pictures of vinyl topped '64-65 Valiants, and I think it actually looks really good. What do I need to do to add it to my car? any special trim pieces? Anybody have detailed pictures of the vinyl top?

Hi there!

On different 63-66 A-bodies there were a vinyl roof option. I have only seen one 66 Valiant Signet with it. White with a special badging on the B pillar. On the Darts where the vinyl just within the chrome moulding.

But all cars equipped with vinyl moulding have special chrome moulding different from the cars without.

I guess a call to Legendary could help you out.

Overdrive, if you go to my CarDomain site in my sig. you can just see the remanents of the white vinyl roof on my CDN Valiant. It covers about 2/3 of the roof's surface from the windshield back. And yes, there are screw on metal strips front and rear, as well as stainless finishing trim. I also have a 65 that has all the trim, but no vinyl roof. If you really need it, I can slosh through the snow and get you a couple of pics. :)

Even though my Valiant is a canadian car, it's a Custom 100, so, it uses the '65 US Valiant body, which is a little different than the Dart shell. I'm just wondering what kind of mouldings the Valiants use when the vinyl top is used. I parted out a '65 sedan with factory two-tone paint, but it didn't have any special mouldings on the A-pilars, from what I can recall, and the trim on the C-pillar was the same as my hardtop.
