Have any of you fabricators out there worked with 6 gauge steel before?

I'm building some brakets that will need some 90 degrees bends and I was wondering how difficult it is to work with. I was considering going thicker, for strength, but I'm afraid if I go any thicker I won't be able to bend it without some machinery assistance.

Nah, it's only .203125 or 13/64". However, the brackets I'm creating will need to be as strong as motor mount brackets. 1/4" is 3 gauge.

By heating and bending, you only weaken it a little. By cold bending, you weaken it a lot. I prefer to use plate and cut/weld for pars. Much stronger. I had some hand bent brackets crack over time before.
