Who do you guys recommend for a rebuild and possibly a smallblock stroker here in the lower mainland?
I am thinking Pro Gas for sub frame connectors
IWE for rearend
Transmision ??

Any help appreciated guys

I know a couple guys over there so i'll ask them.

I'm on Vancouver Island and I got Royally F'd over by Mid Island Engine and Machine in duncan....STAY away from Chuck and Scott....

The only other guy I'd recommend is Mike Dunn @ Western Driveline in Naniamo. He's a Dodge guy and does everything right.

Is it a basic build or is it more racy???.

Todd

Call my friend Chris Stone.

604 319 0527

He'll help you out.

Todd

My friend who built my transmission for my CTD Ram and my big block 727 does excellent work, builds lots of HP stuff for the guys who race at Mission. He can rebuild the rear end also he's located in Maple Ridge PM me if you want the number.

I am thinking of a 10:1 compression 360 or 408 build tranny to be built and the rear which I am not sure as 8 3/4's are getting hard to find I do want 4:10 or 4:30 this car will run the odd time at mission when done and will be a weekend toy for myself and the wife.
416Todd what is Chris's specialty before I call?
megajoltman I will get his number but 1st will be getting the engine sorted out. I will pm you.
Thanks guys all the help is appreciated I was at Mopac today and have their opinion and I am looking for more to make an informed decision I have been out of the toy game for almost 20 years
I have also toyed with doing a 500 cube stroker out of 1 of my 440 blocks but I think the price will add up much faster this way and I do have a credit card budget

No problem your welcome, if you get stuck for a engine builder I can ask my other friend who deals with only race engines (The big three though) but I think he is super busy I'm sure he could recommend someone.

Roger

Thanks megajoltman I will call him at appropriate time.
Well boys who are the engine assemblers and machinists down here?
I noticed no one said much about Pro Gas so I will assume they are good for the sub frame connectors and such.

Chris is a Mopar mechanic at a dealership and he's a MANY time race winner and track champion at Mission and Ashcroft.

The cheapest/most resonably priced parts I find is Performance Products in Coutrenay 250 338 6441 ask for Bill.

Good luck.

Thanks 416Todd,

Where is Cris located? I really prefer mainland than the island
Thanks

He's on the Mainland...where exactly...i'm not sure.

He's a racer and a damn good one. so I'm sure he'll be able to stear you in the right direction with the rest of your build needs aswell.

Mopac in langley is the cheapest place to buy parts on the mainland.(sorry Bill.) I have bought many parts from Bill when I lived on the Island. Talk to Chris at mopac about what you want for a motor. total mopar guy, works behind the counter. And I have heard good things about Chris Stone as 416Todd said. Good luck with your build.

Thanks Cuda20 I talked to Chris at Mopac yesterday although I was talking a 500 stroker but the more I sit at home the more nervous I get about the total cost.
btw is your car the 500 cube he told me about that is extremely faaaaaaast for using only caltracs? if so wow what a ride.

Chris did put my engine together.Later this month it's going in to mopac to go on the dyno and get tuned at the same time.It went 11.07 on 275/60/15 DR through the mufflers at mission last year.Hope to see 10's this year after tuned up. Also won first place in A body modified at the mopar unlimited car show in langley last year. I'm very happy with how the car turned out. Five years to build it. Did 90% of the work myself. Need to thank my wife for being so good about it and for her help. And I drive it when ever weather permits.

You are the one, that is one potent car. If you ever have the time I would really appreciate a pm telling me more of what you have done ie: brakes suspension etc.
I am trying to learn as much as I can and your a body is very applicable to mine.
I may have to slow down and do brakes and such first then get engine done,
Nice car I look forward to seeing it this year at the shows

Just curious, did your Barracuda come from the Island and was (is?) owned by a couple brothers back in the 80s/90s?

I did live on the Island back in the 90's. Black creek. Car was B5 blue then. Use to race it at Victoria and saratoga.

Yes Chris at mopac is a good guy but the companies up here sure can't compete price wise with down South. I buy all my parts in the US and bring them across customs myself.

I buy from down south too.Try to buy local when I can but got to save a dollar where ever a guy can.I usually have things shipped to ship happens in Sumas and then just run across the border and pick it up.

Ok,It's not the same car I thought it might have been then. There was a red 67 notchback around Victoria then in Lake Cowichan back in the 80s/90s and I thought it might be that car.Always liked the car a lot, yours looks like a finished version of it.
