Hey guys, I just got a new phone so I am putting my old one up here on FABO to see if anyone is interested in it before I toss it on craigslist.

It is an Iphone 3G , it has been "jailbroke".....meaning that it has been unlocked so it can be used with a phone service carrier other than AT&T .

I used it with Tmobile prepaid phone service ( pretty neat having a prepaid Iphone )

it takes a SIM card so it works with a few other carriers such as AT&T, centennial wireless, T-mobile like I mentioned and I think it works with a few others aswell (it can be used like I did with prepaid service or with a regular contracted service).

also with it being "jailbroken" you have an option to choose what cell network you are on, say for example you are using tmobile service and you drive way out in the country and your getting bad reception.....you can simply click and change to the centennial network or AT&T network and get a better signal.

there are alot of other cool features that go along with the jailbreak.

OR if you have AT&T service already and dont care about having the jailbreak ...you can just restore the phone to factory settings if you wish.

OR if you already have a phone you could use it as an ipod touch ( iphone is basically an ipod touch but with a camera, microphone and phone capabilities).

The phone has had a screen protector on it since new and has also had a hard plastic case on it since new so the cosmetic condition of the phone is very nice!

it comes with 2 USB charging/data transfer cables and one wall outlet charger, hard case that is currently on the phone (has scratches on it and is worn),screen protector that is currently on the phone, and I also have the original box with all paperwork!

$150.00 OBO shipped to the lower 48 ,if your not in the states just PM me and we can figure something out.

Paypal preferred.

to bad it wasnt a verizon iphone, then I would of really wanted it.

Sorry about the pictures guys, I took them with my phone and the lighting was not that great...also the scratches you see are on the screen protector ,not the screen itself..

if Verizon is sim card based then you can use it with verizon services I believe but I am not 100% certain .

8gb, but even that is hard to fill up! I had a good 100 songs, 200 pictures ,1 movie and countless apps and was still only using a small fraction of the storage.

if anyone is interested feel free to PM me

i believe the verizon phones use a different operating system so they won't cross over with each other. the 3g is gonna be a hard sell. people seem to want atleast a 3gs. i only got $100 for my 3g that was jail broken and had a car charger along with the cables to hook it to a tv with it.

Verizon is a CDMA network and AT&T, T-Moblie and the others folks use iPhones on are GSM based so you can't cross network types. I did hear the iPhone 5 will have both CDMA and GSM radios in it so they can only build one phone for both Verizon and AT&T.

My iPhone is jailbroken too and there is much more you can do with it than just unlock it to use on other networks. The are themes you can install so the ability to customize the look to your preferences is almost infinite. There are also lots of Apps Apple won't allow on the App Store that do some truly useful things. I have a calendar, weather and appointments on my lock screen. I can also compose text messages and make calls from the lock screen or without disrupting any of my other running apps.

Thanks for clearing up the verizon compatibility guys, I was not sure rather or not it worked on that network or not.

as others have mentioned there is tons you can do with the jailbreak.

also joe, I have seen them sell on the low side also but around here anyways, my asking price is average ...most ask upwards of $200.00 .....BUT take note everyone ...I put it up for sale as OR BEST OFFER so I am not stuck on the price AND that includes the cost of shipping too!.

so if anyone is interested please send me a PM and we can work something out.

I will probably put it up on craigslist tomorrow but I wanted to run it past fabo before hand.

I would not be selling it other than the fact I just got a new android phone (not sure how I like it though....the iphone is way more user friendly I think....but I spent to much money on the dang thing lol so I have no choice but to use it).

i went to the droid incredible myself. couldn't stand the crappy at&t service and wanted to go back to verizon. i really like my droid. to me it runs faster and is more user friendly. give it time you will get used to it.

yeah it definitely has alot of cool features.....but it has so much that its overwhelming and confusing.

I have the LG optimus with the android software on it.

I liked my iphone for the fact it had alot to offer but in a much more user friendly package .....and where I live I got 5 bars of service on my iphone but with my new phone I only get 1-2 bars of service....so thats another con about it.

but I like that my new phone can be used as a mobile hotspot and a few other cool features

How exactly do you get a phone "jail broken"?? this is news to me, I'm stuck in the old days with my Verizon LG EnV3 I got a couple years ago. lol. I love Verizon, you get service EVERYWHERE, but I HATE Verizon customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL the girls that work there are snobby little bitches, same for the ones you talk to on the phone. They all suck, leaving me pissed off and wanting to switch services EVERY time I leave the verizon store. LOL

You can only jailbreak certain devices...not all.

And a year or 2 ago it was illegal so it was kind of "hush hush" when someone did it.......but a few months back a law was passed saying that owners of the devices had the right to exploit the software being that it was only benefiting the user and not causing problems elsewhere basically ( basically told the companies to stop being greedy).

so since then the world of jailbreaking devices has really been expanding (until the recent jailbreak of the sony playstation 3 which was in a violation of the EULA contract all purchasers bind themselves into.....so there is a current lawsuit on that .......but anyhow, that has nothing to do with the phones.

There are more advanced jailbreaks where you download the software to your computer and plug your device in via the usb cable and jailbreak the software that way, there are tethered and untethered jailbreaks (meaning they work whenever or for a the thered jailbreak it means they only work when plugged into the computer) (tethered jailbreak is pretty much obsolete now though). And there are now even simple jailbreaks out there where you simply get on your device and go to the internet browser and type in a certain web address and it will say something to the effect of "click to jailbreak" and it will jailbreak your device right from a web page.

there is alot you can do with jailbroken devices like, fully customizable home screens and wall papers, free ring tones, free apps, unlocking the phone to work with different carriers, selectable network towers and the list goes on and on and on......it basically lets you unlock the full potential of the device (manufacturers should give you this option from the factory being that these things are so expensive when you buy them new anyhow).

thats some of the basics anyhow...sorry for the long post on it

FWIW, I have been very happy with my AT&T service, its worked every where I hav been. Just got back from 10 days in the Carribean and the iPhone worked with great service on every island.
