I am a true 1911 fan. I have owned 5 of them and currently own two. My carry pistol changed three years ago. I said I would never own a SA XD model. Well after two years of debating, I broke down and bought a SA XD sub compact .45 and I absolutely love it. IMO it is an updated and refined 1911, not that the 1911's needed any refining. Springfield Arms nailed it when they made the XD!
