Hiya gang... it would appear project Bills Buggy has hit a snag that I cant overcome at the moment.. In order to get to the paint stage Im gonna need to pull the front and rear glass.. for the new headliner and vinyl top... My rubbers are bad and someone used some kind of glue sometime in its life for reasons unknown.. so we have to cut the glass out.. I called today to order the top, headliner and rubbers only to find out they're nationally back ordered... 6 months at least and even thats not for sure... I called Legendary, Stephens, and a few other places... no dice... Someone suggest Steelerubber.com.. I looked there.. they apparently make their own instead of using the company that makes them for legendary and everyone else... of course they're like $40-$50 more expensive.. they're out of the front... 8-12 weeks til they're in stock.. they have the rear though... I have no idea of their quality..

So.. if anyone has good window rubbers, knows of any, has a line on any or has any personal experience with Steelerubbers products let me know.. otherwise project Bills Buggy sees no paint or finish line til next year..

Thanks all

You might get some helpful replies if you share with us the, um, model and year and number of doors on the vehicle in question. There's a '69 Dart in your avatar pic, maybe that's the car? Or somethin' else?

Your absolutely right. My mistake. Now i feel kind of stupid lol. It's a 69 Dart, 2 door hardtop.

i have the org ones that I took out of my 69 dart I figured well everything else is new might as well get new ones.If interested let me know I will go look and see what shape there in.

i got mine for my Duster at www.dantesparts.com but I'm quite sure there are other sources available (year one, laysons, etc...). And FYI Steele Products seem to be squared away. They were the only folks that had the rear glass rubber for my 68 Fury. They took my order and got it out most rikki tik, not overpriced either. I give them a thumbs up as well.

Take a look at them for me if you don't mind. As long as they're not cracked and they're still soft and pliable i would be interested for sure. Thanks Snake

Whatever you do use steelerubber. They are "vulcanized rubber" quality which is better. Steelerubber is all we use at the shop (auto glass) for the older cars. My boss has tried everyone under the sun since he went into business and he settled on steelerubber. I just installed the back glass of my cuda yesterday using steelerubber without a problem. Im hoping to do the windshield tomorrow but it will be up to the boss.

Thanks everyone for all the input and reviews of steelerubber. You guys are awesome

They feel soft to me and no tears, only issue to me and may not be there is a channel at the bottom of the front seal that's got black sticky sealant maybe factory, not silicone. If ya have a hard time get some let me know 150 for front and rear.

What he said....I used the year one gasket first and had nothing but trouble...made of crappy fake rubber.

Only one gasket to use and that's Steelrubber.

Interchange is '68-'76 Dart and Valiant Swinger/Scamp (boxy 2-door hardtop...not 4-doors, not Duster/Demon body, not 2-door sedans). This is one of those parts you don't want to scrimp on. Buy the best quality gasket you can get or you will come to regret it.

You remember telling me what gasket to use Mop?

LOL!

You told me of the experience you went through with year none :banghead: and that's when I went with Steel... that's way before I worked at the auto glass business.

Starting to sound more and more like steelerubber is the way to go.. too bad its gonna be 8-12 weeks before they have the fronts back in stock...
