Yesterday, Was my Day...
I have been purchasing un-finished projects and all the parts to help complete my projects.Have not gotten a lot done on my 1966 Dart, done brakes on front and rear on my 1963 Dart and neglected the 1972 dart.
But this is not what this thread is about.
On my constant search for parts on this forum, internet and craigslist.
Yesterday I found a 1974 Dart Special Edition another un-finished project started and ended in 2007.
The guy that originally owned it ran out of money and moved. The guy that sold it to me ,has too many other nice mopars and wanted someone to finish it.
I received all the receipts for all work that has been done and all the parts purchases. This file is about 4 inches thick, most parts from Mancini racing and Year one.
Receipts from Machine shop for the 318 build copying the 415HP article in Popular Hot Rodding..

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/enginemasters/articles/mopar/0667em_mopar_318_engine/index.html

Receipt from Mancini for forged crankshaft
Machine shop receipt for Eagle I-beam rods and KB 167 Flat tops, zero decked and bored 0.030.
This car has never been run since 2006.New calipers up front and complete 8 3/4 with big drums and brakes on the rear.
8 3/4 has new auburn with 3.55 and strange axles, which attached to s/s spring and offset shaclkles.
Transmission is 727 rebuild with 2500 stall converter and is wrapped by a 727 shield
Tires on back are 275/50/15 BF Goodrich Drag radials and never run tits still on surface of tires.Check out the rear rally's and that backspacing.
Well ,I was planning to go to Mopar at the Motorplex, sell some stuff at swap meet, buy some stuff, check out the car show and watch the drag racing...Got some good friends I have not seen in while who will be racing their cars and now I can run my car too.
Well thats my plan,I got about 10 week deadline to that event but really need to get in finished at 4-6 weeks so I can get some runs in Seguin Texas.
Hell I got to break it in...Everything is new....
Ever since I bought my 1966 dart less than 6 months ago I been on this site reading , researching and watching the progress on Tincup,Pettybludart
and many more.

Well I got to get it off the trailer and into my one car garage.
Poor 1966 has to go outside under the car cover.I could sure use tony field's garage.
Going to build one this summer.
I got 2 hours of daylight left.
Back to work........

Looks like you can get that one back together real quick and go for some runs.Lots of good stuff on the more-door $$$.What will you do with the car?Strip it for all the good stuff? It will all bolt right up to your 66 Dart!Hint,Hint LOL.Good score!:read2:

Sleeper?!?! Man, from the side that thing looks like Grandma's car! Only thing to give it away is the view of the tires from the rear. I see fun times ahead! :snakeman:

Hey all,When I saw the ad I thought about all parts for my 1966 but I got a built 360 for it.
Man, I am tempted but I trying to keep from what my friend did to his 1966 Dart GT.I want it to be a street car...
Check it out it has a stroked 440 in it.

That car has a lot of good parts on it.

I thing that is one of those Flaming River manual 16:1 steering boxes. The U-joint is worth like $50. Addco sway bar, 8 3/4 rear end, spool K-member with sway bar lower control arms, on and on...

Sorry for the old owner. The way the car sits not running, does not make it an attractive for sale car. It has no "street appeal". Hard to sell they way it is. But a smart buyer can see the parts quality in it.

So.... around what did you pay for it.

Here is the Craiglist I responded to it

1974 Dodge Dart Special Edition - It is a 4 door but is in excellent condition and would make a great donor for your 2 door Mopar or a sleeper. I have receipts for all the parts and I know it was in excess of $10k when totalled up. If you have a 2 door A body or an ebody this is the deal for you! Most part interchange with other mopars and the spindles and front brakes swap on an Ebody or Bbody. The small block motor is bored to 323 and is spec'd to about 405hp and the deskdyno. Has milidon oil pan, performance hypertech pistons and will be a very nice motor when buttoned up....Comes with bare "J" heads and most everything else it there to make it run except for the carb. I have tons of extra parts including MSD ignition and Air gap intake. All the body bushings, shocks, wheels, wiring harness, radiator, steering box, tires and alot more stuff is from year one and is brand NEW! Rebulit 727 transmission. All the glass is perfect, grill is perfect, the bumpers front and back look brand new, the hood is perfect, the chrome mirror is perfect. Has all new brakes front and back, Front disk and large drums in the rear. Brand new Auburn 355 Sure Grip rear end. The brand new wiper motor from year one and the rear end is worth the asking price itself. The price is firm....but is well worth it. Comes with a clear title.

Not much to update today.
Order parts from Summit today.
I ordered cheap set of Summit headers, which I will use to break-in motor, tachometer, head gaskets, and MSD box and coil ,to go with the MSD distributor that came with car.

Going threw the boxes of parts and planning my weekend on what to do next.
I have all new brake lines that need to be installed, original owner bought all of them from Paddock and some from Year One.
Will post more pictures,this weekend.

Today was the only day I was able to work on the car. Most my tools are at my shop and by 10 am,I had it and proceed to load my car on my trailer.
Well I made to my shop at 1 p.m., due to come along from harbor freight breaking and having to take it part and welding up..I usually take them apart new and weld them and they last.
I bought a used winch Friday ,to mount on the trailer and I need to do it soon.
Once at the shop,I put it on my lift and tried to figure out how these new brake lines run.I did not know they run to the proportioning valve which is missing.
This is a project car that I just bought and all lines have been removed,
I got boxes of parts and ziploc baggies with bolts and stuff some marked others not. This like putting a puzzle together...My 1966 is going to be worse.
Well finally I drove home and picked up my 72 dart(to see how the brake lines run),once back at the shop ,everything made sense got the lines installed.Took no time at all on the lift.
Customer after customer stopped by to see if I was opened and that the reason I originally took it to my home.NEVER CAN GET WORK DONE ON WEEKENDS AT THE SHOP.
Tried to install power booster and master cylinder and I am missing the bracket that goes between them and the firewall.
Got to load all the parts and take them to the shop.Next weekend, I will not be seen unloading my car and I will sneak in and close and lock the doors....

wow man way cool car I want a 1973-1976 dart 4 door to have for a driver so bad that thing will be eating those little 5.0s not even see it coming

I really like the fact that it's a 4 door.
I say fix it up as is and enjoy the sleeper look. The bodies are quite strong too with the pillar in the middle.

This morning I found a bag by front door that I forgot about.all the other boxes of parts are in my one car garage.Found my booster bracket and hose for brake line to rear brake lines. The bag had more baggies of bolts and my brake lines from master cylinder to proportioning valve.
Still can NOT find proportioning valve...

Today the Post man delivered my police dog dish caps that I purchased from 268RTs4ME
Here they are on front.......

Well no luck find the proportioning valve,so ordered one from Inline tubes yesterday.
Earlier this week I decided to save the J heads for my 340.Really want to put RHS on it from Brian, but need the funds to finish this project so I pulled the magnum heads off my 360 motor that I purchased from a guy that had it build by a local machine shop for his truck.Speed Pro pistons,Hughes RV cam, lifters and valve springs, stock crank and rods, balanced at flex plate.........never ran...
CC'd the chamber and were at 63cc,sent to machine shop to mill heads to 60cc and to check valve to retainer clearance for my lift with the adjustable 1.6 rockers.
Well they are good to go.
Tomorrow I work half a day at shop doing emission state inspections and then the fun begins.
I am going to install the heads and check valve to piston clearance and if all is well,
I am going to install heads, intake and headers.

Pictures of the stock magnum heads with Hughes valve springs and Crane push-rod guides that will not be installed,I got some comp guides and need hardened push rods.
Picture of the 360 I am robbing parts off of.
I will be using the Hughes oil through lifter out of the 360 as well.
Here are some picture of bare J heads rusty but no cracks, going cost money to rework them....
Post more pictures tomorrow.
