If YOU(Krazykuda) are ever in need of a part, or info. that I have...I guaranty you, that you will not be getting it from me. And I have given parts and shipped them for free to some members on here.

That was not a well worded or thought out thread you started.
If I would of started a thread like this every time I got dinged with brokerage fees, I'd have more posts than MeMike.

Hey when I buy parts from the US, I count on paying somthing extra at the border. That's the way it is. I try and have stuff shipped US mail. If a broker is used the cost is huge. We don't pay duty on used part, just the tax on the declared value. Krazykuda, everyone is in the same boat. Live with it if you want to cross border shop. We have it worse with better stuff down south.

X2 brother

I have sent parts to the US and within Canada, parts free and even paid shipping out of pocket to get parts out. I consider myself a stand up guy and will help anyway I can. If I do or say something that is wrong I will take my lumps and I will apologize and do my best to make it right.

And for Krankykuda.. I look at myself every day and know what kind of person I am and now I know (and many other know now I'm sure) what kind of person you are too. Have a nice life buddyboy end of discussion for me.

I,ve also bought and sold many parts cross border.I,m thinking this was his first cross-border purchase? There,s been many threads on members asking for Canada Post/USPS shipping to avoid out of this world fees.A learning lesson for sure.Good to see the CANADIAN member made things right, cause that,s what we CANADIANS do.Keep the peace!

Dont use Fedex. USPS...Canada buyers welcome if I can ship USPS. Lesson learned by a FedEx "back charge" to my account for an item shipped to Canada. It was equal to the price of the ignition box I sent, 30 bucks!

Agreed and X3
Think before you speak and remember, we are also charged excessive fees by the usa carriers for brokerage other then USPS but do not hold a FABO member or his country in ill reguards. Oh, and Go Leafs ..... lol

Excessive fee's? Oh hell ya!

I even paid taxes on the seat strokerscamp sent me,and it WAS FREE! And to top it all off the border ***** didnt know the first thing about car parts, overvalued the seat by $150,so I had to pay taxes on that amount because she said so! Otherwise she was gonna keep it,the *****.

And it doesnt matter that you found that $400 set of pistons for 1/2 price, you pay taxes on the NEW VALUE!! TALK ABOUT UNFAIR? YEP,WELCOME TO CANADA where the more you ***** the more taxes you pay.

stop talking about candian and american the probleme arent people but the governement on both side and company like fed ex and ups

last spring I bouht the summit exhaust kit it was at that time 234$
and the shiping, taxes duty fees cost me 190$ :banghead:
so is it the summit fault I dont think so

Geez..give me a break...rule one..NEVER use a courier service - too many problems.

BTW, I have bought lots from the states over the last 10 years or so and the ONLY problems I have had..and this included my son's sponsors ..were the ones that were shipped by fedex or ups.

UPS has even tried to charge me for duty tax etc on warranty item from TTI..the vendor wouldn't man up and approach TTI..I had to go direct.

Don't paint us all as crooks because you had something shipped by Fedex..which is an American Company..always ask to have it shipped Canpost or USPS. Me, and lots of other canadians ship Canpost with an auto 100 bucks insurance AND a shipping number at no extra change..

Lastly, if you are worried about your economy, try lookig at companies like wally mart who buy zillions from china who also put small companies or stores out of business. Then they toss a buck at a school and call themselves good business citizens.

At our wally mart, there are over 100 employes and only TWO FULL TIME JOBS..no benifits or anything for the others. At Home Depot, all the employees (including part timers) recieve health, dental and pension.

I have had it the other way.I bought something from an American guy and when it got here,I had to pay an extra $20.00+.Us Canadians are good folk!! lol.Don't shoot us down too quick!! lol..

I bought a CD changer for my Stealth (the original was missing when I bought the car) from a guy in the states for $30. Thought it was cheap until UPS dinged me $50 brokerage on it lol.

Welcome to our world as we have to deal with these issues a lot of the time when dealing with American sellers. The duties and brokerage thing is the ***** (we know) and sometimes American sellers will not ship USPS. When that happens we are left with paying the enormous brokerage costs or refusing the delivery and going to the local UPS/Fedex/etc depot picking up the item and bringing it through customs ourselves. In all of this I have NEVER asked the seller to share ANY of the costs as I know this is not his fault. Most American sellers are aware of this pain in the *** and have helped us out by shipping USPS. To them a big THANKYOU:salute:.

I bought a certain item from a USA member of FABO. He was going to ship via UPS or FEDEX. I asked him to ship via USPS and he wanted me to pay extra for him to go to the post office. I did pay the extra on top of his shipping charge because he said it was out of his way and either UPS or FEDEX would come to his door for the pick up. I guess he was just lazy. Never again from this seller or any other, US or Canadian, that won't use the post office for small items.

Ok guys. I realize that the duties work both ways. Canadians have been hit with them and Americans also.

Like I said on the end of the first page, from the POSITIVE feedback that we have received, we should all keep in mind to ship with the post office instead of FedEx/UPS as many of us have been charged high "duties" from these companies than using the regular post office.

I did not intend to start a Canada vs US bash thread. I'm sorry if my first post gave some of you the wrong idea, but I was frustrated and upset that I had spent so much on shipping just to get parts that I could have gotten from someone local and not had to deal with the hassle and expense of parts going across the border.

I PMed the seller and then learned that he intended on paying the duties in his original shipping cost. It was the lady at the FedEx that told me that he told them that I was to pay the duties. This was apparently a lie to get me to pay the duties. I obviously will not be using FedEx when ordering parts from Canada anymore.

So, let's take a positive lesson away from here and stop bashing each other as it is not going to get us anywhere. When dealing with shipping parts across the border, use the post office to avoid the extra "import fees" that FedEx and UPS have ripped some of us off on in the past.

I agree you pissed of a lot of Canadians here, you should of said I do not like the boarder police, its not us CANADIANS at fault.

Passss me some chicken all this BS has me hungry.LOL.:bs::bs::bs::bs::bs::bs: Ps dont let this get to ya.

You probably dont need another post to this thread, but I have started a couple of threads of my own about the broker fees. A tach would have cost me over $100 in shipping and broker fees. Shipping was $23 broker was $86......stemming from UPS. I refused shipment and seller gave me full refund. Seller didnt follow thru with my request that parts get shipped via USPS only.
Another thread involved a member that shipped me 2 carbs....same thing. I said USPS. He apparently stutters and thought I said UPS. My beef was the fact they ignored that I wanted parts shipped USPS. Waggin stepped up and rattled his cage for me and was largely responsible for me getting my carbs.
I have paid broker/duty fees from both UPS and USPS/Canada Post. When Canada post charges me, it usually minimal. They all charge it, but when a part is shipped via USPS, it hands it off to Canada Post and the charges are minimal if there are any.

Keep everyone happy and buy FABO!

I believe if the item is $50.00 dollars or less, then Canada Post does not charge brokerage and on 50.00 and more, I was charged a flat 5 bucks on the last 4 shippments from U.S. Members

AAAHHHH whatever,we kick thier hockey teams ***,so nanabooboo.lol...

as far as i know there should be NO duty, taxes, or any extra costs on vintage car parts, ive never had to pay extra when bringing to canada form the USA

"Get your stinking hands off me you damn dirty apes"!!!!!

There, I said it.........I don't know why.......but it sure felt good!!!
