I recently picked up an early ford Dana 60 from a 1964 ford f100 the specs as far as dimensions go drum to drum measurements are identical to Mopar b body Dana 60, the only difference is the perches and the Lug pattern it ls 5x5.5. Has anyone ever used these danas without narrowing them and keeping the big five lug patter? It is a powerlock rear with 3.54 gears. Thanks!!

Nope that's the only difference between this one and the Mopar unit. Thought about running it with the ford 5.5 pattern too.

Have redrilled for 4 1/2 bolt pattern. I was always wondering if those housings could be drilled and tapped for a snubber.

I Woud think they can be drilled and tapped or machined in. Have the axles re drilled?

I had no idea you can do that, do u know what that costs? Thanx for the help

well that depends on what you are using it for. Mine was out of a 68 F250 and it was 16 spline. But your going with a 440 with lots torque it may hold up it may not.

When I looked up the numbers it said it was from a 1969 ford f100 HD and I believe it said it was a thirty spline. I'm trying to find the website again.

I'll have to check It out. I'm guessing to have the axles redrilled I'd have to pull them out anyway.

Yep I hope its not 16 spline. i bought mine the hard way.. But I bought clutch hubs and spiders that are 30 spline to switch over my power loc

Ya I hope not too, did u have yours narrowed at all? I believe the early ones are the narrowest Dana 60s in fords it measures the same as the b body ones so I figured I scored.

Hey when I pulled the one axle it seems to have left a pin inside the pumpkin how do I pull that out and reinstall it?

It's a semi floating, looks like a pin that may sit in between the two axles?

hi, they are a regular passenger style axle. no floaters. the spline is a 30 , same as a 8 3/4 mopar. in fact, the axle will fit on a side gear in a 8 3/4 rear.
they are the lightest dana 60, weighs about 35# over the 8 3/4 rear end. they are just as stout as any other dana 60. the bolt pattern can be redrilled.
I use one in a 340 duster and 4 spd runs mid 11 sec. holds up very well. just food for thought
