thanks guys! so for the factory radio do you leave the power hooked up? or? is it just settin pretty? can you tee off so both work the speakers or will that mess things up? i have never done a "dual radio setup"
I have the back light wire hooked up on mine so it illuminates when I turn the headlights on but I unhooked the main power wire because I knew I'd never use it and I needed a power supply wire for the new stereo. I wouldn't advise trying to tee 2 radio's together because each radio puts out power that has to go into a properly loaded circuit (the speaker). The original radio would probably survive because they were tough as nails but the newer stereo would probably burn up due to the impedance mismatch. You might be able to find a 2 way switch if you really want to keep the original radio operable but another problem you'd have is you'd need another antenna or another switch to switch your antenna from one unit to the other. I'm not even sure they make a switch for that??
