We (my husband and I) are new to restoring our own car and doing it in SoCal! we've helped my dad restore a 67 galaxy, so we took on a project a 1965 Dodge Dart 270! we bought her for 3500, we paid so much because the engine was brand new, and comes with a warranty which is a huge plus so it makes everything else simply cosmetic! the inside is crap, serious crap but as long as the engine works we are great with that! now the only thing is find all the things we need! we are not in a hurry to make her beautiful its a weekend project, but i drive her around when i need to. anyways if anyone knows and san diego area deals for parts and whatnots let us know!

Welcome to FABO! I am not to far from you just out side of Temecual. There are a few of us members around in the area. Sure some one will have the parts you need. Put up a thread in the parts wanted section here.

Also some of us get together down in Escondido a few times a year for Crusin Grand. You are more than welcome to join us.

sweet! right now i think the most important thing for us to get done is the fact that our doors have locks but no key (new ignition and mechanic lost the other key prior to purchase) and I gotta re-wire it this weekend so the the gauges and stuff work, then maybe some tinting so the no one can see the ugly-ness inside haha!

Why can't I be "new in SoCal" instead of freezing my *** off for 1/2 the year. Welcome to the site.

ya we would love too! keep me informed we would love to go to shows and such not showing our yet as its work in progress but connections are always wanted and appreciated, im wondering how the yards are down here also, havent been to one yet, we got the car and are packing and moving all at the same time oh and throw in a 2 1/2 wk trip to oregon to visit the family, haha. me and the hubby will be one here checking in and searching for help and what not.

I know there is a pick your part here in San Diego county, I think its in El Cajon, but I have not been yet.

Check out Sweetwater Wreckin in San Diego County. They are a Mopar yard with lots of great stuff you'll need to round out your project. Very resonably priced. I'm sure you'll be hearing from Cudamark - he owns the place and is a member here. Good luck!

HAHAHA nice im headed there this weekend!!! i need a bunch of trim and im down the road from him so ill haul the hubby and kiddo along and go for a trip i hears its not a pick ur part so she can go!

If you need new keys made, you should probably just upgrade to '67(?)-up door locks. The locksmiths near me told me it would be expensive too re-key my original '64 door locks and if they did, they might not be able to put them back together.

I used '68 door locks and here's how I upgraded mine:

Best of luck! :glasses8:
