SSBC A153 front disc brake conversion Kit

Not running it but I will tell you…… You could do a factory (LBP or SBP) conversion for half of what that costs.

Here……

1st. Decide if you want large or small bolt pattern.

2nd. Make a "WTB" thread that stated you need a complete drum to disc conversion.

I just ordered the same kit on wednesday. With the rebate my price will Be $671. See my thread here... http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=132897

I considered a 73+ swap, but I really don't think it would have saved me much. It seems that the going rate for 73+ is around $250 plus shipping, and I personally wouldn't use anything other than the spindles and control arms. So I was figuring another $300 to replace rotors calipers pads bearings ball joints hoses busing, etc... Also all of the front suspension on my car is newer so I didn't want to replace it at this time...

Hope this helps...

mrtillie,

I've got the SSBC front disc kit on my '71 Dart GT. It was a very simple & complete swap. Plus you have the option of SBP or LBP wheels. Currently I have the 14" SBP Rallyes. I paid $830 from Mancini about 6 years ago, so $671 is a great deal.

There is a stock sbp setup on eBay right now for $350 with 0 bids but he wants another $125 for shipping. Comes with upper & lower control arms, strut rods, p valve & master cylinder. Auction ends in a little less than an hour.

Im looking at getting a drum to disc conversion kit for my 67 Barracuda. I like this set from SSBC and was wondering is anyone is using them now??
There is the link to Summits add.

Hey there...

Did you end up getting the A153?
Could you please share the installation schematic of that kit?

Coincidentally, I was looking at the same thing... for a 1964 Barracuda.
But, could you please tell me, what's the difference between the SSBC A153 and the SSBC A153-1?

Here's how they posted the kits on the catalog...

Plymouth Barracuda 1964-1969 Original Equipment 10" Drum Brakes SSBC A153
Plymouth Barracuda 1964-1969 Original Equipment 10" Drum Brakes SSBC A153-1

And another thing, does anyone have comments about "Master Power Brakes"?

My A153 kit mentioned above arived 5 days after I ordered it, but I haven't installed it. It is however a bolt on install with the exception of drilling out the threads in one of the spindle holes, and plumbing in the proportion valve.... I hope to get it in within the next few weeks.

Just let me know if you need more details, and I will help if I can.....

Oh, could you scan and email me the schematic (installation manual)?

Thanks!!!

Just go to the SSBC web site and down load the installation manual. Thinking about going the same way with my 64, except I want to keep the master cylinder.
