lower radiator hose spring

If your radiator hose "sucks closed", then you have big problems such as a thoroughly stopped-up radiator and a faulty pressure cap or so many leaks that the cap is useless. The cooling system operates under pressure (unless, like me, you are running waterless coolant) very much higher than is required to keep all the hoses "inflated" unless the radiator is so stopped up that you need to quit driving before it goes BOOM and come out in four pieces.

You do not need a coil spring in the hose.
