i just got back from laying the first layer of paint on my oilpan and i just dont get why i got a few very small spots that the paint just refuses to stick to,its on the bottom of the pan so i realy dont care for the visual aspect of it but its kind of disturbing.
i did a good cleanup of the pan, sanded it properly and cleaned it with the right solvent to make sure it was clean and dry and it just refuses to stick to those spots](*,)

any sugestions?

not clean enough, before I paint any part I go over it with yes lighter fluid leaves no residues and cleans oil off real good.

used white spirit after sanding it thought that would clean up any leftover oil,it wasnt bare metal it was some older enginepaint and i thought new paint should stick well to it after some sanding, its the oilpan so i dont realy care if its perfect just disturbing, gues i will start over when the paint is dry:(

Fish eyes is a sure sign of oil or wax still on the surface. Had the same thing happen on my steering column I just rebuilt. Went over it several times with acetone and it still had one spot that wouldn't cover properly. Good paint results is 95% prep.
