Early Pink Floyd , c.1968

the monoaural mix of "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" ( 05-AUG-1967 ) was re-reissued a few years ago ; I 'highly' recommend it !
The only track which *suffers* -- and only a marginal amount -- from the mono mix is "Interstellar Overdrive" , as the panning is ostensibly missing .

I really like Cream a lot , especially 1968's Wheels of Fire .
There was an almost consensus back in '67 that Pink Floyd was *compromising* their sound , and especially after their 1st album was released ( as named above ) .
They were the house band at the U.F.O. Club in London , and would play long , improvised instrumentals , with Syd trying all kinds of bizaar stuff on his Fender Telecaster ( with its mirrors on its body ! ) .

Having not lived through the Mod / Psychedelic / Blue Eye Blues / Northern Soul 60's the first time around , I cannot give an honest assessment of Pink Floyd's '65-'66 sounds vs their late '66 - early '67 sounds . But , suffice it to say , I do enjoy lots of the music / styles / sounds / artwork / cars from that time , albeit in a vicarious sense :farao:.
