Bogus New Ohio Bill
Virginia has it if you get a ticket driving over 100+ MPH its a street racing ticket..
Well, it should be. anything even approaching 100 mph on public streets is just a disaster waiting to happen IMHO.
This whole topic gets my ire up.
Not just at the lawmakers, though. Some of the blame has to be put back on us.
There is one local cruise here (last year was likely its last) where people were gathering for years...in fact it is the first cruise I attended and the one that got me hooked enough to look for my car.
It is usually a quiet and calm event. People usually mind their manners. Located in a restaurant parking lot near a major, busy road. The cruises were held on Tuesday night as I recall and started at 5, went til dark.
Well, people started deciding it would be cool to use the adjoining road as a drag strip....showing off for their buddies.
Mind you, this is in rush hour traffic, on a major thoroughfare.
The organizers had to start making regular announcements over the PA to remind people not to do burnouts and what not.
The fact that anyone had to be reminded is enough to give some support to why the cops and local governments want to tighten the reigns.
Its all fun til someone get hurt or killed.
I am not saying this particular Ohio proposed law wasnt BS...it was...but if you look at it objectively you can see why they were trying to do it.
We need to police our own, otherwise it will be done for us.
